Heroin was introduced to America as a cure for morphine addiction.

Heroin and/or cocaine overdose was not uncommon among children in the late 1800's. Probably because it was a main ingredient in a medicine used to sooth a teething child, cough syroup, soft drinks, and all kinds of random remedies.

Companies that used drugs like heroin in their products, didn't have to list it on the label, or even admit to it untill the early 1900's.

The man who wrote the "Marijuana Tax Act of 1936," which ultimatly banned Cannabis in the U.S. was hooked on morphine. He supplied many of his friends with morphine. His name was Harry J. Anslinger.....the bastard.
