I think I didn't phrase my post well... I was suggesting giving up just red meat and pork. They're not particularly good for you and I'm sure you'd be perfectly healthy if not healthier on just chicken and fish. But I understand the not wanting to feel restricted. Sometimes I hate that I have to be so picky everywhere I go.
We don't eat a lot of pork, but the issue with cutting red meat and pork out completely is that Daniel HATES fish (and for the most part, I'm not a fan, but I'll eat certain kinds of fish still), and I would never hear the end of it if we only ate chicken. It's kind of hard to shop for three picky eaters as it is and cutting food off the list of things that we will eat would just make it harder. Meal planning is probably the most stressful and hardest part of my life, honestly, lol.
well theyre my words and they came out of my mouth, so everyone else can do what they will with that most people who are not Asian will make the same assumption I did. If you buy sushi in America, at least, it usually refers to raw fish
WORD I understand that. That's honestly a big reason Dean and I eat veg at home.. because it's easy and cheap and fresh. Fish if we're feeling affluent. But I know a lot of guys are pretty hardcore about their red meat. I'm from TX too after all
I don't eat meat. I tried to for health reasons, but am not a fan. I've never tried beef or pork and I never will. But, I also am not going to try to change anyone's mind who does eat meat. People have the right to eat mammals, even though I think it's really bizarre to eat another animal that gives live birth to their young.
A lot of the cuts of both meats have a lot of saturated fat. I also think they'r enot good for the soul, but I am going to not argue that point, because I know it's whacky.
there is a balance. going to any extreme of saturated fat is bad. if you're really worried about it, get a leaner cut of meat. blanket statements that say its bad for you are ignorant of everything we know about the nutrients included in red meat. just as ignorant as a meat eater who doesn't include enough veggies and fruit. yes, you can have a poor diet of fatty red meat with little to no fruit or veggies (ex - what people typically refer to as the american diet). now that (american diet) is far far different than eating plenty of lean red meat along with plenty of veggies and fruits. furthermore, when you mention that its bad for you because the fat content - you are in fact isolating the red meat from the entire diet - and well, that brings a whole host of problems with conclusions people will make.
I just said 'a lot' (or some, I don't remember) of the cuts of meat on both animals contain saturated fat.
I fpeople didn't eat meat, there would be a lot mroe food for the rest of the world though. And that's healthier for eaveryone. So there Fitz. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
Ok, just think of all the starving people in Tnzania who could have 10 times the caloric content of your steak. I am sayign that as I eat my very highly packaged food that if I made from scratch instead, I could feed a few orphans with the money.
Same here. I just stay away from pork and beef. I eat just about everything else. Some wouldn't consider that meat.... But it's meat to me.
