Prefer them to Coldplay, they toured here recently, sold out footy stadiums, I was liie what the fuck man? I'll save 200 bucks, ride the elevator for 2 hours, listen to that music, more likely to remain conscious U2, Coldplay, Radiohead, Oasis I do see a pattern, if you are a group from the United Isles you are supposed to be pretentious as fuck
I'll have to respectfully disagree. I'm with the Gorilla, I'd rather have my eyes poked out than listen to most of those bands. What seems to be hard is finding a bunch of people who can play, sing and write who don't turn into pretentious motherfuckers the moment they have any sucess.
I'm not an expert on any of those bands, but I think of radio head as being significantly better than the others U2 had a few ok tunes, but bono is annoying as fuck I think of oasis as 1-2 hit wonder, and coldplay as not worth listening to and annoying
People love to talk shit about radiohead.......... I spent most of my early high school years listening to and loving them. People who pretend to act like they suck are either trying too hard to be cool, or just don't have good taste in music. The end. I don't care if this post makes me un-hip.

I've only read your OP and bits of pg 1, but I can follow a lot of what you are saying. I too was considered "too intelligent" in school. In England you could be building time machines and they wouldn't put you forward a class. I'd be reading the Times at 7 or so, and beating adults at chess at about 8 or so. But by 11, I was bored out of my mind. So I set about becoming "SuperRebel" ( minus the cape, ofcourse). In England we've got the added nonsense of the "class system", or rather, modern Feudalism. Put simply, brains doesn't matter THAT much, much less than an expensive, snooty high school, and helpful parents who own whole counties. I had none of these. But I worked my way round this. I can get on with different types of people but I can't say my soul is always in it with some people. I might be having a conversation and think "what a fuckwit, what a waste of 10 minutes of my life, his IQ is X points below mine. Its like him talking with a fucking gerbil. One thats had a stroke". I can connect with people, but some things are arduous. If you remember the poster Hyphy, he had terrific interpersonal skills, but I've no doubt it was all learnt. I feel like he was the geek who turned into a swan, or well.. PUA. Dave Techie seemed to have had some defining moment too. (He's prob called dTec2.0 now ) What I mean is, you are smart, so you can solve your problems with your mind. Probably your problems are caused by people, ones less intelligent than you. Yes, people aren't logical. BUT, they are actually pretty predictable, once you have the right knowledge. Use that to your advantage, and decide your path. Yes? PS I've got ADD like anything. Never took Ritalin or any meds.
You don't have to be lily-white to listen to Radiohead... Anyways, we had a cafe' full of people, Jamaicans and all listening to Radiohead on a regular basis...it was one of the C.D's we played at the restaurant everyday. I def. agree that Radiohead is on a whole other level compared to those other bands.
Life really is hard when we have all this trouble trying to figure out which pop band is worth listening to.
