Down South we call them 'Slushes' and yes they are dam good, even at -30. Here we have been adding soft-ice cream to them for decades. Its like a float slurpee. VERY delicious![/QUOTE] depends where you get them- 7/11 is a slurpee Mac's Milk is usually a froster Anywhere else I think its just a slushee or there's also slush puppies just thought i'd add to this because i am obsessed with slushee's (also in -30 temperatures. lol)
Well, so I guess I've learned that Canada is not perfect either. No nation can be. I still think Canada is better than the US. I live in Wisconsin, and all this news of our government bombing this place or that in Iraq is just making me sick. Perhaps I shall move to the UK someday... Though I must say, the landscape of North America can be truly awesome; I'd sure miss it.
Oh sure Canadas free and all that. It's free if you're rich.Theres a huge widening gap between the have's and the have not's.Theres a lot of arragance from these rich people. As arragant as Marie Antoinette was, but look what happened to her.Don't ever take anything for granted. Canada's Urban centers are crumbling. Vancouver has turned from a once laid back, friendly small city into a pretentious, poserville full of snobs and heroin addicts, and perhaps North Americas worse skid row.Don't tell me otherwise.I've been to the Bronx too. If I were you Id be glad you're a u.s citizen. You've got a lot more choice and variety there.
the best places to live in canada are the smaller cities.. like for instance, where i live.. kamloops. it's in southern-central BC and it's a semi-desert town, meaning it's a valley.. every single direction you look you see a beautiful mountain. the scenery is breathtaking. in the middle of the busy downtown core there is a little road that takes you to a park where you can hike up to this gorgeous waterfall.. it takes like 10 minutes to get there from my house, which is downtown. there are probably 60 or 70 small lakes and creeks and hidden little nature places in the surrounding area, each one completely secluded from everything else in the world and as beautiful and peaceful as nature was before it was ever touched by man... clear, green water and blossoming plants and towering trees.. it's amazing. there are so many little cities like this across BC.. it's incredible. travelling here is such an adventure. and people are so open minded and accepting.. it seems that is especially true down on van. island and other areas on the coast, like nelson and stuff i believe. ANYWAY, that's just my two cents!
its very cold here..be prepared for the coldness...o the coldness!!! montreal is awesome, ive been there lots of times..its colder their though but its still pretty awesome.
Canada is becoming far too american, far too quick. but then again, we do get all of our media from the US. The only things we have going for us are the fact that we're a socialist state (our Almost comunist party is in power in one province), and that we have a lot of space. As for that beer expert guy, go nuts livin in NWT or the Yukon, just remember that the colder it gets, the less you drive to work. your talkin continental arctic weather without much moderation from an ocean. id recomend BC, but probly not vancouver, they're having a lot of problems with gangs and crime. The east is like Mini-US, until you get to the maratimes. them and BC are the places to go because the weather is good, and alberta gets shinooks, so its pretty warm. go bc, but stay away from nething too big. and some of our big issues: not going with the states to iraq and legalizing pot... but be prepared for cold, lots of cold... and for a long time....
If you are going to come live in Canada, I would recommend a small town/village with close access to larger cities. Rent/mortgages are a LOT cheaper than living immediately in the city with less noise and traffic & with only a 10 minute drive/commute into the shopping/working centre. Lethbridge, Alberta is a beautiful city (as is the whole province), I stayed there for a month and loved it! You pay only one tax..but on the other hand, everything is a little more expensive. I found little crime and beautiful scenery all around me. Stay away from places like right in the heart of Ottawa (for living)...GHETTO. Other than that it's a nice place as well with the parliament buildings and many historical museums.
