I could have started this in the UK Section but as Zen kindly prompted me to do this project, it could only seem right to me to post it in a section he created . Just a bit of background My home town of Bolton situated in the North West of England has suffered badly during the pandemic and has only seen around 3 weeks or so free of restrictions and we are suffering again due to the so called Indian variant . This is rife in 3 areas of Bolton and has been blamed by many on the UK Government being too slow in Red Listing India, allowing flights, many chartered, to fly into the country unchallenged. This is probably best discussed elsewhere in the. forum and is beyond the scope of this thread . However you will see that despite this being the first weekend of hospitality opening inside ,Friday was very quiet maybe indicating a reluctance of people to start going out .
These are 2 of the pubs we have visited I am using library pictures here to save a bit of time but rest of the pictures will all be my own unless stated This our favourite eating place . Its part of the Wetherspoon chain and is called the Spinning Mule and offers an extensive vegetarian menu for which we recommend . Everything is also calorie counted on the menu and very handy if your being careful . Cask Ale is served here ,which is what I prefer to drink and is £2.15 per pint which is very cheap these days.
The second Pub featured is the Venue Bar in Bolton . Its situated on Churchgate and when fully operational operates as a Night Club for the older end as it caters mainly for the over 40s and the music and cabaret acts tends to reflect this with many 70s ,80s and 90s with a sprinkling of contemporary music being played . Most genres of music is generally covered and of course there is a dancing floor .
Friday 21st May 2021 pictures to follow . These are only small collections as there original intention was to just show some friends of ours and this was before Zen gave me the idea . The Saturday and Sunday pictures hopefully will be a little more diverse The first collection will be from the Spinning mule as we had an early dinner here ( dinner as in late meal but often called tea in my parts ) The second collection will be from the Venue as this is traditionally our final destination on the night and often been seen crawling out at around 3.30 am and falling out of the awaiting taxi
Picture 3 2 Pints of Moorhouses ( Burnley Brewery) of White Witch . My wife also likes cask ale as well as her loopy juice ( wine)
You can see from the pictures that the pub is very quiet for a Friday Afternoon . I was expecting it to be much busier . More Friday pictures too follow
This is a great thread Mysteron! I feel like I know you better now You are right, that is a Northern Town. I had no idea where you lived, but it looks nice to me! Your pubs look great, wish we had some in Mexico. I am glad you can get out now, and hope things get far better soon for all. You in the UK seem to have been slammed with bad stuff for years now... time for change. Seems the one pub chain has it's own magazine, very spiffy.
The next collection were taken at night at the Cabaret Club Bar . Notice the lack of people with more staff being present than customers . This confirms the nervousness of people regarding Covid
Okay here comes Saturday It was that busy we couldn't get in the Spinning Mule so we opted for the Swan and Barristers instead . This is the pub we usually go to on a Sunday . A Library picture of the Swan in Bolton
Going off the Street scene Saturday was expected to be quiet but it seems everyone was already in the pubs . This was the first Saturday night opening since last November
