After over 30 years of marriage my wife was diagnosed with this. By her description pain is excruciating to say the least. My question is. Is there a cure and is there Alternative ways to have sex.
This would be tough. The internet would be a good place to learn about this but do not get sucked in by fast buck sales pitches. Over the counter drugs and treatments for any medical issue may or may not be proven to be safe and effective like most all modern prescription drugs. This is not to say that OTC drugs won't work, just be more careful and do your homework and get a reputable GYN practitioner to advise you. Anything we put on or in our bodies, prescription or OTC can have risks. What little bit I know about this is it is not an STD. Some people think problems that crop up down there are due to an STD, not usually the case.
There is no cure for women who are diagnosed with the disease in the genital area. Treatment is done to ease symptoms and keep the disease from getting worse. Most likely you will have to discontinue intercourse as the risk and pain becomes severe. The risk is that the area if not treated and is continued to be agitated it can lead to cancer. There are alternative ways to continue to be intimate with your partner but it depends on how open she is. Unfortunately most sex acts for the woman must cease. That includes oral sex or cunnilingus and anal sex. Anal sex can be an option if the disease has not affected the anus or surrounding areas but it is risky. She can still perform oral sex, fellatio, on the male and depending on how large her breasts are use the cleavage as a substitute for vaginal intercourse. (The slang term for fucking a womans breasts in this manner is known as "Russian')
This is a medical condition that no one on this board, short of a gynecologist, is qualified to answer. I suggest you start seeing physicians.
