Libya was already selling oil to anybody who wanted it. Libyan oil production would be better off if the rebels and their revolution just went away, and things went back like they were before.

owning it has to be cheaper than buying it, surely... i am sure i read somewhere that Gadaffi was putting the price of Libyan oil up for buyers?

Depends who you are. Oil companies get oil from US public lands for free or next to it, not that this prevent gas prices from rising with oil, it just means that increase goes straight into the oil companies pockets.

Overall the amount the US spends protecting it's acess to mideast oil exceeds the value of that oil by a fairly large margin. And we still have to pay cash as well.

There are also ground troops and equipment being given to the " rebels. " This is just more of that politician bullshit and lies. So I'll just come righout out and it.

To one extent or another, we're in another war.

..in one of the most bizarre twists in this unfolding situation, a caller on the radio last said that the Lbyan government has been given 1,000 complimentary tickets to the Olympics in London in 2012, because they are a member of the UN or something, which raises a whole load of questions about the security of the country and the impunity of some members of the Libyan government who might use the tickets and could be implicated in war crimes.

This was funded entirely by the british tax payer and the lottery funds, yet the common man cannot held a hold tickets, even if he could afford to pay (and wanted to go)... but the LIbyan government gets in for free!

Can someone pass that by me again...
