Socialism is the only way to be.....

Well there are others, I am hasty, but capitalism is the way not to be.

If i was to start a communist country, and all we did was put babies on spikes, would communism become the act of putting babies on spikes?

If, as you admit, it isnt the communism marx was talking about, is it communism at all?

    the clear answer is no.

That's ok, I like you too :) your posts always cheer me up. But I knew you'd disagree with me on this because we have very different views on politics.

    peace.

That is a very harsh statement, and is completely untrue. The problem of black and white issue's is that it doesnt take into account the great spectrum of grey. Besides, there is way more than communism and capitalism, what we need is a pre-industrial scoiety.

The black and white answer is no.

If they called it communism then what else is it? Last time I checked Marx didn't put a pattent or copyright on the word or its defenition :) Nothing is absolute not even communism :p

Fresh air and clean water are overrated, we're living into our 80's instead of 40's without them.

the 40's sucked....we had Hitler and Nukes then. Give me the 1760's. that was the highpoint of culture and class in my book. plus the 60's are allways cool.

Hey, is anybody else getting pissed off at the surprisingly high amount of right wing conservative ignorant rhetoric that occurs at this forum? because I know I am.

more than they ever had at any point in history up until then. That was a time when people could look back on the past and be proud of where they are in their lifetimes. We can not do so right now, the world is dying and we are its killers.

Yeah, but all that considered, we werent on the brink of the end of life at most, or at the very least the destruction of all "civilization" and the deaths of at least 90% of people world wide. Women did have rights back then, but the fact is that our rights that we have now in this part of the world only belong to us at the cost of the exploitation of millions. Im not saying without exploitation we coldnt have rights, I of all people know that this is untrue, but it is really unfair how we can be all "oh look at us, we are such a free and equal society" when people are starving en masse in africa, having their water stolen in south america, being drowned a week after birth in china, and being straight up oppressed and killed in Palestine. A fine society we are today, free women........in this country at least, but then again, we are told not to think about the other countries too much.

Why I said the 1760's were good is not about rights or freedoms or any of that....In that department we are just as fucked now as we have allways been. Read my quote (which came from a man who lived not long after the 1760's, and rings absolutly true today) at the bottom of this post. The 1760's however was the golden age of Western Culture, which is now dead of course, slaughtered and itts name usurped by the new and horrid corporate culture which will enslave us all.

By the way.....I am horribly pessimestic....but I am sure your allready aware of that by now.

All I am really saying is that the 20th century was the bloodiest century to date....yet......the 21st century has had such a lovely start however, I think we will lick the 20th century in terms of gore before the quarter of the century. the 18th century looks pretty decent by comparison.

    to my eyes at least

I'd go back for the Latin, but I'm kind of nerdish like that.

I would love to experience what my country was exactly before federation, and afterwards.

I am somewhat of a regionalist. Before unification, Germany was the Country of Goethe and Beethoven. After unification, it was the country of Wilhelm II and Hitler. every county should be granted a huge HUGE amount of autonomy, but there should be one loose world government that oversee's them all. Basically like the UN, but not plutocratic and toothless.

  20. I get you....but could it work? Is it working now? And how do we define universal values? Its an intellectual minefield.
