What is the real story of Friday the 13th? On Friday, October 13, 1307, officers of King Philip IV of France arrested hundreds of the Knights Templar, a powerful religious and military order formed in the 12th century for the defense of the Holy Land.
just keep countin in even numbers to keep the balance of life right! how does one jump from 12 disciples of Christ who were never permitted to carry arms on any account to knights with arms defending Christianity - there is a clue missing here!!
I understand that the tradition is rooted in Christian beliefs. At the Last Dinner there were 13 people (the 12 apostles plus to Jesus). Anyway the tradition around here is about Tuesdays 13 instead of Fridays.
Well... I don't know too much, since I'm not very much into religions. But around here it is taken for granted that the origin is religious. More precisely from Christianity.
And there is a saying: "Martes 13... no te cases ni te embarques"(Tuesday 13 do not get married nor travel). And the tradition is so strong, that in the civil registry they usually have every day busy, but when there is a Tuesday 13, there are no marriages registered.
