Excellent! Here's perhaps a dumb question, but are there still remnants of the bombings from WWII? Historical markers, preserved buildings, etc?
They are mainly in Portsmouth. Of course, there are many ancient buildings. I will go to the East end later in the year, that is where the docks were and the worst WW2 bombing!
That would be a sobering sight to see. My grandfather was part of the European campaign and every once in a while my dad and I look through his old photographs
I'll have to visit with my dad again. I don't recall if my grandfather spent time in the UK or if he went straight from the warship into France. Irregardless, if/when you do make it to the old WWII sites, it would be great to see pics.
That would be great! I don't know if I'll ever make it over there in my life. But in the meantime it's nice to live vicariously through your pictures!
