So... I've been advised of the availability of permanent positions at the company I've been reporting to - currently I'm a "temp", a temporary agency has me with this company. The agency currently pays my checks and the company pays them presumably. Anyway... the permanent position is a customer service rep. position. I would be doing the same thing that I have been since December; taking customer calls in the call center, and assisting people who are having challenges with our products, or with their orders of our products - like say one gets lost in the mail, or it arrives damaged... They said they'd email when the positions were accepting applications. It's worth a dollar raise, and there are benefits - vacation, medical, 401k (retirement), etc. That will happen today - I expect to get an email. Well, I went to the careers section of the website anyway, before receiving anything. I'm overqualified and I know it, and with a foot already partly in the proverbial door, I decided to apply for a position with corporate doing something financial-ish for them; I won't bore you with the job title. I can't help but be hopeful for advancement. While I'm good at doing the call center, I feel like I'm in the trenches. And I have a reasonably good education, so I'm qualified to do more. I hope they get me.
Thank you. I think it's secretly one of my dreams in life to hold a corporate position; mundane as it may be or sound... I have a background in accounting, and while the talking on the phone with customers comes easily, I think I want to do more. And I'm already established at this company - as established as one can be after 2 months anyway...
Thank you. She's good. I think she is getting her braces tightened. Her teeth are cute, but she wants them straightened.*
