By no means am I a metal purist, so I'm just going to lump all my favorite Metal Bands here, even though some of them are other metal sub genres. Black Sabbath Tool Metallica Megadeth Rage Against the Machine Mastodon Avenged Sevenfold Pantera Rainbow Ozzy Osbourne I like most metal that doesn't use guttural 'cookie monster' vocals.
Heavy Metal means different things across generations. To me, heavy metal is Foghat Ted Nugent Rush Nazereth I imagine that is not what you had in mind...
SUH-LAY-YAH!!!! Reign in blood for me shits over everything else, no other album do I NEED to listen to every 2 to 4 weeks, and thats almost 30 years later, when it first came out, it was a few times a day for about 4 years
Awesome! I am not a metal purist either, but I do like to categorize my metal haha y, so i like tons of stuff from symphonic metal to old school death metal to folk metal to power metal... but I will name off a huge list of my stuff from my computer: Metallica, Epica, Nightwish, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Megadeth, Eluveitie, Entombed, Dragonforce, Death, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Grave Digger, GWAR, Alice in Chains, Acid King, Nuclear Assault, Napalm Death, Gorgoroth, Cannibal Corpse, Helloween, Accept, Kreator, Sleep, Skid Row, The Scorpions, Slipknot, Venom, Witchfinder gEneral, Anthrax, Slayer, Flotsam & Jetsam, Warlock, Lita Ford, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Exodus, Cinderella, Poison, Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Blue Oyster Cult, Motorhead, Sepeltura, Gorjira, Chimera, Fear Factory, Carcass, Candlemass, Celtic Frost, Iced Earth... I can't go on but, there's a bit of my music
I like all genres of metal if the lyrical work peaks my interest, and it doesn't have to be good "clean" music either, for I tend to think that the worst death metal can be the best death metal. Black Metal: Graveland Helrunar Cradle of Filth Burzum Forefather Halgadom Wodensthrone Wolves in the throne Room Satyricon Death Metal: Amon Amarth Cannibal Corpse Gortuary Nile Carcass Diminished Fleshgod Apocalypse Zyklon Rob Zombie Unleashed Suffocation Skinless Fear Factory Cattle Decapitation Behemoth Hard Rock: Hammerfall Motörhead Metallica Saxon Sniper Celtic Frost Folk: Ensiferum Eluveitie Korpiklaani Wardruna And many more, these just top off my head. I usually like metal surrounded in mythology and oldern times. Tales, journeys and adventure stories. I like perceptions of mythology and how bands uniquely tweak idea to fit their sound and style or own beliefs. Music wise I like it rough and raw, lots of blast beats, lots of growling. Aggression etc. I don't really like the high pitch vocals of Judas Priest or Black Sabbath or anything.
I don't consider myself one but I guess if we would really insist I fit the bill well Live I can enjoy any good band (except nu metal) but I never put on death metal or grind core etc. myself. I'm more into other music now but once upon a time I mainly listened to hard rock and metal My favourite metal stuff is mostly narrowed down to albums these days. I like me some doom/stoner (like Sleep), some black metal (mostly 90's), a little power metal which I often get in the mood for through listening heavy metal stuff like Saxon, Iron Maiden and (bordering to hard rock of course) Rainbow. I still really love classic heavy metal/hard rock like Black sabbath (with Ozzy), Pentagram, Deep Purple, Rainbow etc. Oh yeah, I also dig folk metal (mostly scandinavian with black metal influences )! This we have in common. But it seems we find it in very different bands! For me it can even be power metal with balls grabbing high pitched vocals or a ridicilous italian accent! Even though I like some power metal I am extremely selective in the subgenre. Although I am actually extremely selective in any genre. I am not even a purist on metal subgenres but even on a band's discography Maybe this elitist metal taste is a leftover from when I was really into the black metal scene (not as a musician) I don't really check out new metal anymore. Some of my current and latest favs are Urfaust and Taake but I've already been enjoying them for years now :-D
Fear Factory is a band that always used to piss me off. Its not metal, I find that sound really irritating Its like, lets pretend to be metal but gay it up with some musical theatre electrotectronic bullshit As if Gary Numan and Meatloaf had a baby and it was retarded and had listened to a few Sabbath albums
Fear Factory are awesome. They completely make the industrial sound of man vs machine a genuine euphoria.
Lately I've been digging on stuff like Animals as Leaders, and Cynic. Also to get my chops up I've been working through "Extreme Metal Bass" by Alex Webster. I also have heard a few tracks by Blotted Science that I've dug. C/S, Rev J
Maybe I'm getting older but some of the artwork these days is quite revolting lol. I just looked at a sevared records leaflet and one cover is just sticking in my mind. It was a fat guy holding 3 women captive. They were eating from pig feeding trays while wearing fake pig noses and a group of other women behind them up next. He was yanking their chains while real pigs roamed around. Ugh. I don't even wanna listen to what those guys have to say.
Fear Factory suck big hairy sweaty dogs balls Big hairy sweaty dogs balls covered in that dogs own stringy saliva Thats what Fear Factory suck Their next album is dedicated to the american middle class, its titled No Manufacture
Yes. Yes I have. I seen the one where I dunno, I just don't know how to describe it. But the artwork wasn't realistic enough to get to me, so I found comedic humor in it.
I saw an anime style one once. It was about 10 or more years ago so I don't remember specifics. C/S, Rev J
I googled them all lol. They're all too poorly drawn to stir me up lol. Maybe the "sniper at the fag parade" if that's a real decapitated head. I dunno.
Yeah that to me sounds kind of like GG Allin. The music doesn't quite stand on its own without the gimmick. C/S, Rev J
