You can believe a woman who gets paid by Lush or you can research the ingredients on your own. I prefer to trust in my own research.

Yep-I bleached & dyed my hair, but did I say that it was natural? Or residue free? Nope, I didn't.
I just don't like to see incorrect information being spread.
I use natural products whenever possible. Just 'cause I wanna have fun with my dreads doesn't mean that I don't prefer to use natural products or make me less informed as an herbalist and soap maker.

we don't have government ran liquor stores but we still get a lot of moonshine around here a lot of the older people enjoy it more than the specialty kinds you buy at the store.

Im gonna take this opportunity to vent about my lame valentines night....
so...my boyfriend and I went to see the mighty diamonds and we got into our first big fight! Boo. Half way through the show he went to the bathroom and while he was gone, some random rasta guy comes up to me and started flirting heavily. I was really shocked cuz the guy was hot and that never happens to me but thats neither here nor there! Anywho...he asked me to go onto the tour bus with him and smoke a joint....and I said.."Only if my boyfriend can come!" So...Yay me! I handled it like a champ. I gently put him in his place. However, at that moment my boyfriend came back and the guy kept flirting with me! It was so awkward cuz Im such a pacifist...I didnt want my boyfriend to get the wrong idea but Im to nice to tell the rasta to fuck off and die. So...I did the worst thing possible. Out of my nervousness I kept giggling at everything the rasta guy was saying in front of my boyfriend so it looked like I was flirting back. ooops. I was really stunned though that my boyfriend didnt do anything...I mean I dont expect him to be rude to the guy flirting with me but he could at least send a sly message by maybe putting his arm around me or something? Anywho...finally I just grabbed my boyfriends hand and politely walked away. When I told my BF what had happened he got really pissey and pushed me and said..."go catch a ride with him home"!!!!!! Then he yelled at me for flirting with the guy. i tried explaining that I wasnt flirting, I was nervous...and when I feel awkward, I laugh. Its an annoying habit of mine I'll admit...I need to grow some damn balls...but geesh...give me a break already!!!! He knows Im a pacifist....grrr. Ive known my BF for about 7 years and weve been dating off and on for 5 years. He's never layed a hand on me and he's never ever shown any signs of jealosy issues. So, I was really thrown off guard. Anywho...it ruined the whole night. I didnt get to see the Diamonds finish which sucks cuz I love em! And then we had to drive 2 hours home and it was the most horrible valentines day ever! Rawr. WE talked on the way home and he apologized for being a dickhead. But frankly, Im still pissed that he'd react that way. I dont do jealousy!!!!! Anywho...thanks for reading. Im done.

I didn't say that it was natural, I said it was residue free and I believe they are. after I wash my dreads they feel totally clean and have nothing left in them that I can see. And like I said, I read up the ingrediants on the website and was happy w/ them. I mean, you've come after me about Lush products a couple of times. I was replying to smelly D and she wasn't looking for an all natural soap. I'm not saying Lush will work for everyone else but it works fab for me and I love it. I just can't understand why you'd constantly be talking about sls free and all natural and then go bleeching your hair for fun! I put colour in my hair using beads/wraps. I need to wash my hair and none of the all natural soaps worked for me. I wouldn't use some regular cheap shampoo and I like that I can go on the Lush website, read all the ingrediants. They are handmade, I am friends w/ a good few people from Lush so yes, I would believe them as a friend rather than them trying to promote the store.

aww mandy i'm sorry. that's lame. you should be allowed to talk to friendly cute rasta guys :( maybe your bf was just pissed cause it was vday and didn't want anyone interfering, cut him a little slack - he did apologize.

jealousy sucks. i get jealous sometimes, and i really, really wish i didn't. my bf doesn't really get jealous too much but we are all human. honesty is definitely the way to go though. we might be too honest now, though... the sex life gets crazy sometimes but i won't go into detail for fear of offending the more conservative dreadies :D

Luxie-I'm happy that Lush bars work for you, but you keep promoting them as residue free and they aren't. That is my only issue. They contain SLS and/or Sodium Coco-Sulfate, both of which leave residue.
As I said before, bleaching my hair does not make me less knowledgable as an herbalist or soap maker. So what if I don't live a perfect, all natural life? I try my best, educate myself and try to educate others.
Just so ya know-I bleached my hair with lemon juice & herbs and used a vegetable based dye, the most natural option I could find. Does that change your judgement of me?

I'm not judging you. I think it's great to try and live a natural life. I try too and I'm not perfect. I didn't mean to promote it as residue free, I just meant that after I wash my hair w/ them I feel clean. when I used bicarb I felt like it was still in my hair after I rinsed for ages. anyway, were both mama's who try our best and maybe aren't perfect. I eat only organic and let only natural cleaners in my house and buy second hand clothes. we can only do our best <3

Hey Bcmama, what's the issue really with SLS? I've heard various things that say it shouldn't be used because it's harmful and read other things that say it's fine to use. Is your main issue with it that it's not residue free or because of the other "rumours/facts" Whatever. A long time ago I used to use the dreadheadhq shampoo and I never experienced any problems with it. The main reason I stopped using it was because it's way overpriced and it smelt a bit weird to me.

I was just wondering what your take was on it..:)
