I am barefoot far more of life than not, but I'm not going to be "anti shoe", that's ridiculous. There are times when various types of shoe indisputably make life more comfortable.
I live in a city where in some neighborhoods homeless people poop in the streets and toss out their heroin needles. People walk their dogs and they poop on the sidewalks. People step in garbage and then walk all over the sidewalks. Thanks but no thanks I'll keep wearing shoes
Unlike the rest of our clothing our shoe protect our feet from injury and contamination. So how about we all wear wellington boots and remove the rest of our clothing.
Rough neighborhood. I mean...occasionally I see that sort of stuff when I go about, but it's so rare that there's no point in wearing anything. If it's that common then that's a different story.
The general consensus is that you need freakin' boots there. People working in chemical puddles, heavy industry etc need protection as well. Shoes are not plain wrong, just an enormously overrated obsession that crossed the boundaries of rationality so much time ago.
An army buddy lives in California and claims there is a beach you don't want to walk barefoot on because of used needles. I'd say footwear has a function. (Also, I ain't about to step in a public restroom without shoes.)
