Going off topic. I was so into the 1980's Big Guitar thing; Michael Schenker, EVH, Randy Rhoads, Angus Young, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Vito Brata, and Reb Beach .... but in 1983, Stevie Ray Vaughn exploded on the scene, next thing I know I started pulling out my traditional Strats out of mothball to dig back into Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Alvin Lee, Jan Akermann, Martin Barr and others from the 60's and 70's. I teach guitar at a local Music Academy and go to College for a music degree .... lots of younger folks are looking back more to various styles of RnB, Rock, Folk, Metal, Blues and Pop music from the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. A few musician websites that I am a part of, many people see the something happen with young people more interested with the music of the past, more than modern music. I think a Musical revival / Renaissance is coming .
I just read Mark Knopfler is auctioning off some of his famous guitars for charity. One is expected to go for half a million dollars. So snag one while you can...
I'm a new member and a lifetime musician myself. I've recently added a couple new members to my guitar family and would like to post a picture but I don't think I can yet per the new member waiting period.
I'd love to have one but that's a bit over my budget. He's got a nice collection from what I've seen. I saw that Eric Clapton is doing the same and one of his Stratocasters is going for 1.2 million.
I recently replaced the bridge pickup in my sunburst Stratocaster and pulled out the stock single coil Fender pickup and wired in a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon . That made the guitar sound totally different in a good way. I plan on eventually replacing the center and neck pickups with the Fender Lace Sensors for a custom sounding Stratocaster that will do anything I want soundwise.
I put a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon pickup in the neck position of a Black Epiphone Les Paul Custom, with a Dimarzio Evolution pickup near the bridge . The SD Screamin Demon sounds so good on that Metal oriented guitar .
I've been working on my guitar family these last few months, and I'm still at least one short of what I want, and my other bass guitar isn't here right now. My Washburn red "911 special edition series" acoustic is in the case not in this picture.
It was a crazy night. All the people I knew who play were there and we had a good time. I think we counted 13 guitars standing there and we thought we'd bettet get a picture;.
This just arrived, I am adding a twelfth saddle bridge, 12 locking mini tuners, a Floyd Rose FXR system for the 6 string side and a Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell on the neck and a 11.12k ohms Bill Lawrence at the bridge of the 12 string side and a Seymour Duncan Screamin Demon on the neck and a Carvin M22SD on the bridge of the 6 string side. And I am going to router the body to add two Concentric knobs 12 string side, starting tomorrow.
