let's get us a white history month!

Yeah, it is amazing that while the white 'race' makes up only 8% of the world it controls over 90% of its wealth. Or the fact that in the United States black men get longer sentences for the same crime than do white men, as well as higher conviction rates.

You said yourself that you would prefer to exclude the teaching of african american achievments.. oh I'm sorry, I believe you prefer the term ******, in favor of learning those of white people. The fact that black people's achivements don't 'mean jack shit' to you is quite beyond me, as it is african americans who are responsible for inventions ranging from the the potato chip to the blood bank. These things get hardly any notice in American High Schools, yet I'm sure we can all readily spout off Thomas Edison's phonograph.

Black history month is a reminder of the long, grueling battle for civil equality in the United States, and that despite oppression, many black people rose up and made something of themselves anyway - they knew, and proved, long before society would give them any credit, that they were just as good as anyone else. Black History month is another facet of American history; surely you can see the value in that.

If you have no interest in history, that is certainly your perogative. Typically though people don't debate about subjects they have no interest in. In other words, clearly you don't care about history, so why would you make a fuss about what is taught in it? If you do not care what anyone has ever done, why single out Black History, as you have done in this thread? Why not simply state, "I don't think they should teach any history at all"?

 

You should have your own White History Month to celebrate the caucasian race

June 1st: on this date we celebrate the life of screen actress Christina Applegate, most notable for her role as the dim-witted teenage slut Kelly on ‘Married with Children’, her accomplishments on behalf of the white race are measured by the number of semen stained sheets soiled by adolescent boys throughout north america.

June 2nd: We celebrate the brilliant architectural design of Auschwitz-Birkenau. originally modeled after polish army barracks; the buildings combine the simplicity of old-world charm with the modern streamlined convenience necessary to house large groups of jews for extermination.

June 3rd: We celebrate the life of Dr. Josef Mengele who’s unorthodox methods in the advancement of modern medicine still remains controversial even today.

June 4th: We honor the great aryan leader Adolf Hitler; for his award winning novel and New York Times bestseller Mein Kampf.

June 5th: The Bakke Decision

June 6th: The Turner Diaries;

June 7th: The Pesticide Zyklon-B

it was well done and very specific. then we can start really studying all the warfare and genocide in african countries and who sold slaves to the portuguese in the first place. that way we can ALL get in on the uppity, self-serving bigotry and link levels of evil to melanin and hair growth.

 

I know Black History Month probably means something different to everyone but...
When February rolls around at my school every year its the same few people we hear about OVER AND OVER! MLK, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, etc... I'm tired of it! I know that they, and all the others that are celebrated, were and are important to African Americans but I'm sick and tired of hearing about it NON STOP! I think that all races should be celebrated equally. We should have Chinese, Mexican, Irish, etc... history months too!

The Civil Rights movement was about equality, now there is a double standard which is anything but equal. BET is ridiculous! If white people had a white entertainment channel it would be dubbed racist without a doubt!

 

Keep in mind that ethnicity, race and nationality are all different things. Far too many people get them confused.

 

The majority of television programming is geared toward white people, because TV gets its money from advertising, and white people have most of the buying power.

If it offends someone then that truely is their own fuckin' problem, IMO I can say it without being racist. I'm pretty sure I live in America, now if I lived in Africa or some shit well my thinking would change, correct?

 

Because, a "******" is defined as "... a derogatory term used to refer to dark-skinned people, mostly those of Black African ancestry." Insulting someone based upon their race is, by definition, racist. Black people call each other ****** with impunity because they are black, and by extension, obviously do not hate their own people (one would assume). By the same token, Italian Americans may readily call each other 'guinea' or 'WOP', but if someone not of Italian heritage were to call them by that in anger, they would surely get their ass beat, as they rightly should.

Now I'm not sure what you mean by "I'm pretty sure I live in America". Is this to invoke 'Freedom of Speech', as if by someone calling you a racist for saying racist things is somehow limiting your right to say as you please? Somone having an opinion of your choice of words is hardly an infringement on your ability to articulate ideas as you see fit.

Or, are you saying that if you lived in Africa you wouldn't dare use the term because you would be surrounded by the people whom you insult and therefore would not last very long?

This is exactly the point that is being missed: the term ******, by definition is a racist term. Say it as much as you want, but I would recommend not getting indignant when someone calls you out on your inappropriate language.

People use the excuse "Well, I call some white people ****** too!", as if this very statement justifies the use of the word in all contexts. That very explanation is extraordinarily hateful, because it implies thus: "[Insert White Person] is a piece of shit, lazy, and has no redeeming value, hence they are a ****** too." You see, since ****** is meant for black people, by calling an undesirable white person ******, it implies only the worst white people are comparable to the average black person. I'm not saying that everyone who calls a white person ****** is conciously thinking this, but they should be aware of what they are saying sounds like, and how it comes across. Once this is understood, one should have the courtesy to refrain from using the term.
