does anyone else dislike that many dresses nowadays are really short? I am not especially tall, but find some of them look like I have accidentally borrowed a child's dress... next time i am just going to buy a dress that i like and sew material to the hem to lengthen it, rather than searching for one in the right length. has anyone else tried this?

sounds good. i love long flowy billowy skirts and can't stand the short stuff. try thrift stores.

I second thrift stores. Not just for clothing, but scrap fabric too. Sheer billowy curtains can layer nicely for really cheep flounce, especial in varying shades.

Though I tend to see maxi and mini hems on dresses most seasons. Perhaps you need a different clothing store?
