lemons aren't much by themselves, and i don't really care for them in sweet things (coffee and chocklet work better to moderate the sweetness and give it flavor there), but in soups and stews and on meat of all kinds (in moderation of course) they extend and intensify flavor without increasing salinity. in cold water, unsweetened, they're good too.
