it would be nice to see the same thing happening in India - has it ever? It is all part of greater change - women in govt ; women in business ; women as executives and foreign immigrant females learning from native females - it is a sign of the times and you will see it get larger as part of the original movements Women's liberation movement Me Too movement
We do have a feminist movement in India getting larger and better organized. There has been exhortations by spiritual masters and social leaders too in this regard. The Prajapita Brahmakumaris is the world's largest spiritual organisation led, administered and taught by women, based in India with branches in all countries and they have done good work in creating a progressive feminist movement in India and all over the world as well. They have won 7 UN peace awards for their efforts in this regard. Similarly we have had female spiritual masters like Mata Amritanandamayi, Anandmurti Gurumaa, Nirmala Devi, Sharda Devi and others who have created institutions for female empowerment. Women are also being recruited in large numbers in the armed forces, and police. Kiran Bedi was the first female IPS (Indian police service ) officer, who was noted for her innovative prison reforms which gained worldwide acclaim and won her the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994. In 2003, Bedi became the first woman to be appointed as head of the United Nations Police and Police Advisor in the United Nations Department of Peace Operations. The space industry is also developing Indian women scientists and administrators capabilities too by assigning them projects and responsibilities. The Chandrayaan 2 mission was led entirely by Indian women scientists and administrators; The women scientists who took India into space A mission designer and a data cruncher: Meet the women heading Chandrayaan-2
well done! - you are definitely catching up! I think our PM OZ os meeting with yours this w/end? - ours is coming under heavy fire for NOT respecting women enough - hope he gets some words of advice?
Yahoo News Australia yes our PM has finally bowed to pressures surrounding him and declared his disgust of what is happening behind closed doors in his /our parliament. A degradation of women that has to stop. How many of us could face their mothers or sisters or daughters if we were involved in such scandal. Men need to speak out as well as women
OZ govt is aflame with accusations; ministers stepping out of office and a heavy attack on the PM personally for many of his skewed comments - but out of the fiery furnace sometimes comes a rod of steel; let's hope so - and just when everyone was feeling a success story about dealing with covid !
Human behavior and the pandemic!! - what a revelation it has been to watch a whole realm of human responses to dealing with this scurge - from the chinese in wuhan who are to frightened to disclose all their data for fear of a world backlash to the man/women next door who's attitude is "if I cannot see it can't be there" and goes blithely on their way spreading it hither and thither! and then there are the totalitarian countries like North Korea who are in such a shambles because they have spent all their monies on weapons of mass destruction that even the friendly russian diplomats are fleeing from the country with fear of death if they remain. then there are all those who cannot afford to purchase the vaccines because of mismanaged capital funds - the south americas ; south pacific islands ; some of the S.E. Asian countries and then there are those just belligerent creatures living in well developed countries producing their own vaccines who just believe it is their god given right to disobey the laws! what a fuckin shambles! human nature at its best?? and when it is all over will we have learned any lessons - NO and what happens with the next pandemic? - we go through the shambles all over again!!
YES there is no doubt that a monumental event like a world wide pandemic not only causes much human sorrow, pain and death but also demonstrates the often total inconsistent behaviors of humans around the entire globe. So much so that they can be given reasonable scientific information to avoid pain and suffering and yet refuse to accept it and therefore experience more pain and suffering. Such is the nature of homo sapiens! Intelligent ? - yes some undoubtedly are but many not!
Well I must add that right now India is just not capable of looking after or fixing its own health system and needs outside help? yes /no?
india, i believe, has always had a problem with population overwhelming infrastructure. i don't believe even the british raj ever got a handle on it. and they do unfortunately, seem to have currently a poor decision maker at the top. poor do to a level of ethnic bias diverse india can never afford. well that's just my impression, having never had my own feet on that ground, so take it for the speculation on the basis of relatively little actual knowledge that it is. could and should other nations and international organizations possibly help? sure, and i'm sure some are willing and even trying to, but i doubt it could even be done, without having to respect both its sovereignty and the thorny tangle of multiple and conflicting belief systems and ways of life that must cope with massively marginal resources.
India's present dilemna is a manmade one caused by the recent state elections that obviously created huge rallies and crowds. I believe these could have been postponed till the covid crisis was over, or at least subject to strict regulations on the part of the Election Commission. Complacency and overconfidence was an another issue. I think this was a hard lesson we needed to learn in terms of disciplined political decisionmaking backed by critical thinking and implementation. Present production of oxygen concentrators in India has been ramped up . Indigenous cost-effective technologies and improvised technologies have emerged in the past month to deal with the oxygen limitations. Noida Man Develops Water-Based Oxygen Concentrator-Cum-Mini Ventilator Amidst Clamour For Oxygen IIT Bombay converts nitrogen generator to oxygen generator to help meet demand IISER Bhopal Innovators develop Oxycon: An affordable oxygen concentrator to address the unmet Oxygen demand amid the second wave of COVID-19 Kashmir's 'Newton' designs low-cost oxygen concentrator prototype Tejas aircraft tech comes in aid of oxygen-starved Indian cities. This is how it works
Countries like Saudi Arabia, Israel, Germany, France, U.S., U.K, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Russia have sent oxygen concentrators and plants to India which has helped mitigate the issue here substantially. There is a forty million Indian diaspora around the world which has also been instrumental in sending such equipment here. Hopefully, this international collaboration will silence voices in India which had been critical of the government's decision to send vaccines to over 87 countries in the initial period.
well this pandemic has shown us many things: 1. who are friends and who are not 2. who are organized and who are not 3. who believes in fairness and who does not 4. who can stick to commitments and promises and who cannot 5. who understands the sciences of health and who do not etc etc -please add to the list if you wish
nothing against going there, but i think i'd like to go somewhere that there isn't. i don't know if that's possible very often, but i find solace in a universe to which the existence of humans is entirely optional. even the cats might be at risk on this planet, but there are other worlds in other solar systems, that in no way depend on us. oddly shaped inanimate objects can be strangely comforting as well.
....... What you say there is absolutely spot on Fitz. People are so fickle and life has made me so cynical about people. Apart from Covid there is another pandemic on right now. It’s called: The Looking After Number 1 ! .....
And now all the secrets of the present UK govt come flooding as as Cummings that highly paid civil servant is quizzed by some high powered committee - he is describing in glowing terms the complete fuck ups that Boris made and vocalized - like the infamous "the bodies can pile high" statement - his live in girl friend interfering in govt decisions and no 10 a shambles - well he comes from a line of bastard children in the royal households of the past so what do you expect?
boris always reminded me of andy cap, the way our chump over here always reminded me of panoccio. i'm not over there so i can't claim to understand the perspective, but from here, brexit looked batshit crazy. i actually think i have more respect for andy cap then panoccio though. then again the may be only an effect of distance. what i mean, is that andy cap could take a hint when he got sick, our don panoccio still hasn't, even after having been voted out of office by an unambiguous margin, that his psycho-fans are still trying to deny.
yes now that could be an interesting side line? comparing different govt and their heads around the world like Boris 1. always needs a hair cut . 2. needs to stop mumbling so much 3. Needs to get married quick 4. Needs to teach his kid what a good dad is Biden 1.Needs to get younger !! 2. needs to stop stumbling 3. needs to stop mumbling 4. Needs to stop lookin sleepy Morrison ??
The CCP have now brought in new legislation tightening control over freedom and democracy Hong Kong security law: What is it and is it worrying? they are tightening restraints on democracy in keeping with the main land. But imo are hesitant of bringing down the wrath of other nations as they are already under the spotlight. they are doing it be stealth - cowards through and through - always have been
and now the ccp are in a catch 22 - so support its filthy allie Russia or be on the side of compassiion and the west - and all the time watching the events and considering how much easier it is going to be to take back Taiwan - It;s economy is struggling atm however and it is awash with covid again - funny how its come back to bite it on the tail after starting it all!!
