Looks like Rock'N'Roll really is dead: Never felt more like singing the blues: Gibson guitar firm files for bankruptcy
Tha article says investing in consumer electronics led to this. Has nothing to do with rock n roll being dead.
We seem to have this ongoing argument about this Neo. Of course there is new Rock'N'Roll, and some of it is okay. It's just that a lot of new stuff I hear sounds ersatz, post-modern and kind of lame. There were two bands that I liked recently. Black Mountain and Wild Beasts. But they both split up. I need a new, new, band to like.
Oh. Not trying to make an argument here. Just saying that Gibson's problems were managerial and related to business. Rock n roll isn't going anywhere. Now, when you say new new band, I assume you mean a modern band with a kind of classic rock n roll sound?
Oh. LOL you're an interesting anomaly. I don't know what to recommend now. Maybe Ex Hex or The Reprobettes would be a blend of retro and modern that would enjoy. Courtney Barnett maybe...
I don't listen to a ton of traditional classic rock sounding bands, but you can also browse through my profile page
I used to have a Les Paul studio model, or something like that. I could never remember the name of the guitar. I wonder what will happen at guitar center. Gibson is likely to continue selling guitars everywhere if you ask me, though I know very little about bankruptcy. I actually like the SG because it's so light weight. Les Pauls are heavy!
I remember getting a brand new Les Paul off the rack back in 1985 expecting to be impressed... It was the worst piece of crap guitar I ever played. So, yeah... I was "impressed".
This is the reason Quality has been going down hill for years but the prices keep rising and WTF did they think they were doing with those G Force Tuner Thingies ? Although I cant really see Gibson guitars going under as such but there will be changes I am sure
