Do you like eating leftovers? Do you reinvent the food or just have the same meal again? I tend to cook far too much for just one meal and rarely do not end up not having leftovers. My daughter and niece like leftovers and often take them for their lunch but my son and I really are not keen on them. If there is a lot left as in enough for another full meal I will sometimes freeze it and have it at a later date. Then there are those bits I feel guilty about wasting so I put them in the fridge and usually end up wasting them a few days later......what is with that guilt. I do not like being wasteful but I also stick them in there knowing that I am probably going to toss them.
Haha I do the same thing! I know I wont eat it but I always save it untill I think its not good anymore! Personally it depends on what it is and how I re heat it. Generally I eat leftovers no problem. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
I usually make extra on purpose so we can have it for lunch the next day, but it depends on the meal. Tonight was fish tacos, so I made just enough for dinner with no leftovers because they don't really keep well.
There are some things that can only come from leftovers. Like, "crazy mixed up". I'm not sure if it has another name but when I was a kid that was the best part of boiled dinner. The leftover meat and veggies were all fried up together in a pan of butter. SO good. Or turkey and stuffing sandwiches after roast turkey. yum..
I love leftovers. I love cooking but it can also be a big chore when I'm rushed after work so I'm happy to eat the same thing two or three times in a row. Leftovers simplify my life. I also hate wasting anything, it makes me feel anxious.
I don't like them at all. I try and not make more than I can eat. There are a few exceptions to this rule. Soup, mostly notably. I love to make a big pot of soup.
I eat leftovers all of the time. I will eat leftovers from the day before, before I eat what's for supper that night.
Leftovers can be even better than fresh depending on what it is. I like making a mince/rice dish that's all mixed together with sauce. It tastes so much better the next day after it's completely soaked through.
apologies, I'm always giving "the chinese medicine perspective" and this post is no exception. so anyways, the tcm perspective is that once a food is cooked, it starts to lose it's nutritional value. cooking and then refrigerating accelerates the process. so the chinese call this food "wrecked". ideally food is eaten within 24hrs of being cooked, and not refrigerated. this includes foods like homogenized milk and other dairy. one exception is yoghurt with live cultures. so I guess having the live bacteria in it rehabilitates the homogenized dairy. so I still eat some leftovers, but I generally try to avoid it.
I almost never eat leftovers with the exception of Spaghetti which tastes better the following day, and turkey which can be sliced up to make sandwiches (with cranberry sauce):2thumbsup: Hotwater
It depends what the leftovers are.... chili is great leftover, so is pot roast, and thanksgiving type dinner food, as well as the (amish/pa dutch style) chicken pot pie I make, and....well, various other things are great left over. Some others things are not so great leftover..chicken dries out, etc. So, depends.
Thanks for reminding me that I have leftover paste in the fridge now...may need to grab some of that in a couple mins.
I do agree that certain foods are better when you have them the next day, many of those are mentioned. I do tend to cook in batches and freeze things like soup, spaghetti sauce, chilli and so forth. I think the real problem I have is nit being able to judge portions and only cook that amount. I always seem to look at it and go I best add a few more potatoes or another handful of pasta. It is a family joke that I make enough extra that another family could show up. It bothers me because I really do hate wasting food. Must go back to those lectures from childhood about starving kids and waste not want not.
