Led Zeppelin

I seriously don't see what's so "heavy" about these examples you mentioned really..

 

Depends how you define "heavy" I guess... Anyway, my point was not to single out those specific songs as "heavy", but to emphasize the fact their roots were based in folk/blues/rock and roll and they took that base to the next level... Well, I know what I mean!

Saying that, I do think that a song like 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' is a pretty heavy folk song...

 

I do kind of understand what you mean.. these songs generally have a bit of a "heavier" sound somehow, but I still wouldn't consider them heavy

Led Zeppelin is a collage of a gazillion different kinds of music. They did play folk...but I don't think "heavy folk" would describe it. If I had to sum them up I'd just say that they were bluesy hard rock...probably not metal though.

 

Legions of people listen to Led Zeppelin, man.

 

Heaviness is so subjective. For some, the limit between Metal and Rock is Led Zeppelin, for some it's Black Sabbath. Some even find the Rolling Stones heavy (example Grand Ma and Grand Pa of mine).

But anyway, Led Zeppelin rocks and always will!

 

indeed they do rock, and i think that what makes Led Zeppelin so great is the fact you can't really classify their sound. You have to hear it. I thank my dad for introducing me to them.

but not heavy metal.

Nor is Alice Cooper or Black Sabbath,

 

you see, the cool thing about zeppelin is that they didn't just play one kind of music, each of the members had their own musical backgrounds and they played all kinds of stuff, plus everything mixed together. they were fucking awesome, man. my favourite band.

 

i love them. there so unreal, that its like hisrtory would be completly out of place without them
