Name two instances when a Zeppelin show was stopped and abandoned whilst in full flow. Full dates and reasons will get a virtual high-five from me. :H lol
I'm not sure if these are the same ones you're talking about but I actually heard of 3... Not sure if the info is accurate though... July 5th, 1971 Vigorelli Stadium, Milan, Italy There was a riot and the show had to be halted by the police.. I don't know why though.. Did the riot occur BECAUSE the show was abandoned or did they abandon the show because there was a riot? LOL Could you explain? April 9, 1977 Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois They only played about 6 or 7 songs... they had to abandon the show (after singing "Ten Years Gone") because of Jimmy's "food poisoning". June 27, 1980 Messehalle, Nuremberg, Germany They only played a fews songs and stopped the show because Bonham was collapsing. If these are the ones you were looking for, I want my high 5!
Are you talking 'bout the hermit in the inner Sleeve of the Symbols album? Well, it's the hermit of classic tarot deck. You can find the detailed report somewhere in the web. Just the main point is: Italy was politically highly hot by this time and so outside the stadium there where rioting youngsters from both sides of the spectrum. That's why the police was there. They did not let the political rioters get near. After the show began, things turned suddenly wild, some of the police dropped some tear-causing gas, and this made things get really mad. Led Zeppelin fled in a hurry (after noticing, that something was wrong in the back), leaving equipment on stage, which was destroyed due to people trying to escape by the other side. So the show was abandoned because of the riot.
Thank you so much for the explanation Green Shades! That's insane... I knew about the riot, I just didn't know what caused it!
You're talking about the riot, right? I sure hope so! LOL Anyway, come on you guys.. Ask more questions! I am loving this thread!
Of course I am ... Well, since noone else is around at present: What's Plant's scene in "The Song Remains The Same" related to?
I was actually looking for Tampa, June 3rd, 1977 also, which was abandoned due to a thunderstorm, causing mass riots.. I'll honour the high-five though, as you did mention more than two. When I watch the video clips of that Chicago '77 show you can tell Jimmy looks a little worse for wear shall we say. lol
More concert based trivia... Name 3 famous musicians from other bands that have "sat in" on an encore with the boys. Once again, dates and venues will get a virtual high-five! (It never gets old )
Thanks, Jim! LOL Green Shades, you want us to describe Plant's "fantasy sequence" (as they like to call it lol) or you want us to say what they were inspired by? Here is another question just to keep the thread going... fairly easy: What's John Paul Jones "real" name?
John Baldwin @NataMelon. Well I wanted the answer that it's related to chivalry. Well, I'll accept the "fantasy" as well. Not bad... since, my question was rather flakey.
Green Shades, actually that wasn't my answer yet... I was asking you if you wanted me to describe the fantasy sequence (WHICH consists of chivalry) A lot of people make fun of that scene (even hardcore Zep fans)... they think it's cheesy and silly but I really like it! It's nice to see other aspects of each member's personality (other than the rockstar image). I always crack up when Plant sits by the fire and takes a huge bite out of what appears to be a chicken drum... He tried so hard to look natural but he just looks clumsy! LOL Oh, since we're talking about Robert’s fantasy sequence and you all seem like experts (LOL ), I'd like to ask for some clarification on the subject. I once saw a video on the internet of Robert and his wife (at the time) Maureen in a castle, they sit down by the fire and passionately kiss each other... he rescues her then leaves on his horse... BUT they show a different version on the DVD released a few years ago. The concept is very similar to the one I just described but he rescues a blonde girl instead, they stare at each other for while and that's it... hehe.. Does anyone know why there are 2 versions? And which one appeared on the original TSRTS VHS released in the 70s? I only have the dvd... Sorry for the long-ass post.. LOL I always get carried away when it comes to Zeppelin...
Well, no one attempted my question, so i'll give the answer... Ron Wood (The Faces, The Rolling Stones) - Nassau Coliseum, 13-2-1975 Mick Ralphs (Mott The Hoople, Bad Company) - Fort Worth, 22-5-1977 Simon Kirke (Free, Bad Company) - Munich, 5-7-1980
Sorry, Jim! That was too hard for poor wee Nata! LOL "I've been trying... Lord, let me tell you, let me tell you I really did the beeeeest I coooooould!!" LOL! Since you're like a Zeppelin encyclopedia, can you help me with the whole "Plant fantasy sequence" thing? (see 3rd post on this page)... It's not part of the trivia game, it's just something I'd like to know! Thanks in advance! Anyway, here is another question: What is the name of the painting that Zeppelin "borrowed" and used as the famous Swan Song symbol/logo for their record label? (Painter and date is a plus! )
Fall of the day. William Rimer Maybe in the 1860s during the raise of symbolist painting, Moreau and all that stuff.
Very impressive, mah friend! It's an 1851 oil-on-canvas painting by William Rimmer titled "Evening Fall Of Day." hehe.. Come on.. I wanna answer questions too... so hit me! lol Here is another one to keep the game going: After the sudden death of Plant's 6 year old son Karac ( ), Plant almost left the band to pursue what profession?
