Nice one, man! I have 270+ of their live shows.. I'm missing a few of the very obscure, fragmented ones... Plus I have most of the DVD/VCDs of the stuff currently circulating..

I still get chills every time I listen/watch it all... I can't imagine how exhilarating it must've been actually being there back then..

It's a pity people don't get to hear all the non-released stuff, as it's where the magic happens... Something from Japan 1971 or Europe 1973.. mmm :H

downhill after '73, are you high buddy? I have the bootlegs from 73'-79' and they produced some of the most amazing shows then. Especially when Physical Graffiti and Presence came out.

I think he means the actual musicianship went downhill after 1973.. It's pretty true too.. After they had attained super-stardom after the 1973 US tour, they did seem to lose some of their hunger and maybe could be accused of resting on their laurels somewhat sometimes.. Who knows.

If you compared a show, say, from '71 or '72 to a typical '77 show it's pretty obvious that Jimmy and Robert had changed a lot. Robert had lost a lot of his range and Jimmy... Well, the smack wasn't doing him any favours.. [IMG]

Bonzo and Jonsey were always in the pocket though!

This is just over-analyzing for the sake of it though.. I love every period of Zeppelin, and every tour had it's share of breathtaking shows!

Which bootlegs do you have from the '73-'79 period out of curiosity?

Sure, they had some great shows after '73, but most of their live stuff was a dramatic change from the early years.

Their studio stuff was still great, though!

    1970.03.07 Montreux, Switzerland
    1971.08.31 Orlando

This is my all-time favorite zeppelin show. IMO the best audience recording of the early 70s.

Not just from zep, but there's been so many good Montreux shows. I've always wanted to go to the jazz fest there.
