yes, lame is one word for it... All three were pioneers in 'heavy metal' but I think Led Zeplen transcends any one genre. All three take me back to disco balls, black lights and that special aroma in the air... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
it impossible to choose between ozzy era sabbath and zeppelin. they are both awesome bands. i wish i could have seen them both in their prime
Why would I be biased? It's not like I had a preconceived notion of which band I wanted to like better. In fact, I used to hate both of them. But objectively, Ozzie used some really lame, obvious rhymes and you rarely see that in Led Zeppelin. Among other things. I think Sabbath's lyrics are meaningful and I appreciate that, but looking at lyrics alone (which is what I'm talking about) Zeppelin's lyrics are better. But musically I like both of them about the same (a lot), except Sabbath is probably a little more consistent early on.
You don't see those kind of rhymes in Zeps songs? Lots of them were just recycled blues lyrics. Well, even if I look at the lyrics alone I can't see why Zeppelin has better lyrics.
Omitting my own opinions here, I'll just say Ozzy didn't write the lyrics for the most part. haha. Give your praise to Geezer, I believe.
Zeppelin & Sabbath lyrics come from completely different places. Different perspectives and influences. It's like chalk and cheese.
as a bassist i say sabbath and zeppelin are very close but sabbath wins out because of how dark and true there music is sabbath and zeppelin is like yin and yang evli and good and i love all of it
When did Sabbath ever NOT have the metal sound? I know the debut retains far more of the blues influence than anything else they did, but it's still heavy as fuck, Iommi still melts your face, and the album is still heavy fucking metal.
Yeah, they got so much better musically after Ozzy. All of the lineups in sabbath were great in their own ways.
