    To my fellow anarchist.
I don't believe I can live in this society anymore, so I have an idea, to drop out of school (last year), raise funds by busking (fuck real jobs) and move to the states (from Australia) (I know, ironic, "keep your enemies closer" kind of plan if you catch my drift) so I can live away from this madness. I would like to make friends with the same ideals (animal rights, anarchy and environmental preservation) and play music 'til my fingers are no more.

I'd search for empty lots for very cheap and build a home for myself (and of course anyone else I can help out), possibly off the grid, as long as I can get away from the city, cooling towers and chaos, and be self-sustaining (solar power, running water from a well, growing and making my own food.)

Of course, I can't just do this. I need to know my chances of survival, how I'd make a living.

Please give me critisism, but if you want to be a dick, do it somewhere else.
Any suggestions, or suggestions for areas are very welcome! I'm looking for a anarcho-punk/folk punk/punk community :)
    Thank you!

I live in Southern Indiana. I helped start a collective living arrangement that spanned three houses and was full of mostly "activists", that went defunct after mass arrests. I am now looking for a few people to live with in a two house, one acre of land, IN CITY, to garden and raise animals. We have established over three hundred species of plants as well as raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, and ducks. I am salvaging an old (third) house as a barn. All the property is within three blocks of each other.

Do you have any skills? How do you plan on building a house for yourself?

Finish school, get a job for a while and save some money. If you still want to do this at that point, do it, and it will be much easier than if you leave now. If you don't want to do it, then you've saved making a bad decision. Win, win.

It's tough for buskers these days and getting worse. Many states are cracking down on free speech rights and are enacting unconstitutional busking laws. The ACLU has many pending lawsuits against numerous municipality's across the states.

Most of the stuff you want to do is nearly impossible in the US. I was born here and since I don't agree with the system, I'm a refugee in my own country.

You can find some cool anarcho folk punkers that want to change the world but the problem is, they congregate in cities. Unless you want to join them in their hypocrisy and work for the system that you/they hate, you won't be able to hang out with them without getting harassed for being homeless or camping.

I'm sure there are awesome people out in the hills but they don't do internet and cities. Their whole existence relies upon remaining hidden and being really choosy about who knows where/how they live. I've found a few people that are off grid but sadly, the necessary isolation usually makes them pretty kooky.

There's pretty much nowhere in the world to go if you want to live truly free. I'd like to check out South America too and probably will someday but research is showing that everywhere else is just like the US...except people are even more desperate.

My plan is to start a new kind of nomadic community that doesn't drive or use money. Since we will be pedaling, there will be no legal reason for the traffic cop BS. Since we don't use money, we have no obligation to pay any taxes. Since we're mobile and self sufficient, it will be very tricky for the authorities to intervene in any way. It's the only legal way I can think of to be mobile and sustainable without having to rely upon someone else or get back into the debt slave game.

I've got room for a camper or two if you want to come out.

Sad, and they ended up taking a disease back to the rest of the tribe. Next time they came out, there were only a few left alive.

That's what happens every time and that's why the news made me sad.

We probably could have learned a lot from them. I aready have. One important lesson is that if I ever get a sustainable nomadic tribe going, we're going to have to go to walmart once a month and lick all of the shopping cart handles to keep our immune systems strong.
