Shut up. How dare you put down "The Word" and "Everybody's Got Something to Hide...." Seriously, though... I really like the non-chorus parts of "The Word," for some reason.
"I'm Looking Through You" is probably my least favorite. It's not that it's bad musically...but the lyrics are really quite mean. When I'm feeling down on myself it's about the last song in the world I want to hear. I don't like the version of "The Long and Winding Road" on Let It Be, but the one minus strings on ...Naked is more tolerable. I can't believe anyone doesn't like "Yer Blues"...and another "Revolution #9" fan I am. That's a great track to just drive along to and zone out and go "number nine...number nine...number nine" in your best John Lennon impersonation.
uhh, its just a sound collage...... it inspired many bands, though..... and was a precursor to ambient/trance music....
There's an obvious error in the title of the song (in your post), can anybody point it out. I don't like The Word. I like most all other Beatles songs from Rubber Soul on. Ob-la-di Ob-la-da is a great song. Revolution 9 doesn't count as a song, but I like it nonetheless. Yer Blues is awesome. Bungalow Bill, awesome. Every song on Abbey Road, awesome.
The reason this list is sort of long is cause I went through each album. Yellow Sub. Revolution [the single version] Love Me Do [I love the instrumentation, it is just a little to repetative for me] Devil In Her Heart Tell Me Why The only one I really like off "Beatles for Sale are I'm a Loser Dizzy Miss Lizzie Tell Me What You See Another Girl Act Naturally [mainly cause of the guitar doesn't sound good at all, the country feel is just ugh on this one unlike What Goes On] The Night Before Drive My Car I Need You You Won't See Me The Word Rain Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Hello Goodbye Penny Lane All You Need is Love [the solo says it all] ObLaDi, ObLaDa Long Long Long The Long and Winding Road Something She Came In through The Bathroom Window Golden Slumbers Carry That Weight Her Majesty Revolution 9 is just John's LSD rip of of what Paul had been doing a few years earlier. I also don't get all you "early Beatles" nay-sayers...they ruled back then.
Well with the harmonica and stuff to I like it... well yeah, I went through all my albums and found the ones where I didn't care for the lyrics [ObLaDi, ObLaDa] or the instrumentation [like in Act Naturally]...its not that I hate all these ones, or think they are horrid, they are just ones that I don't particularily care for
it is quite shocking isnt it ahha, when I put that I didn't listen to it and forgot how it sounded, but remembered it as not too good...After listening to it, I take it back and replace it with Savoy Truffle The only negative thing I will pick at it is that the recording is so quiet [of Long Long Long]
Hey, I like "Savoy Truffle," too. I mean, I don't think it's as good as "Long, Long, Long," but I still like to give it a listen. I'll agree there. It's kind of annoying to have to crank up the volume when that song comes on and then turn it back down afterward. It certainly doesn't make me dislike the song, though.
While I like the song, I have noticed that it isn't all that popular. So yeah, you're not alone on that one.
the part that really gets to me is the "but you have to have them all pulled out after the savoy truffle"...his vocals there just annoy me a bit
I love the Beatles to no end, but some of their songs drive me nuts. Yellow Submarine falls into that category. It's cute and I love the cartoon, but that song! AHH! I couldn't stand to hear it more often than once in a while.
