:O You cant buy cigarettes!? You can buy cigarettes at 16 here. Drive at 17, drink and vote at 18. I even thought our rules were harsh. But 21? You could be married with 3 kids at 21...does America like to keep people as children or something? It seems like Americans stay in school forever, too.
Teenage pregnancy Binge drinking Young driver wraps car around tree.. Happens all over , i realise...but i wish i did not do half the shit i did..till i was 21. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and i would not change anything..but still i wish i had.
Yeh right..um let me see, I call the coppers and say "hello, I'd like to file a complaint against some coppers...can you send a copper to file a report?" Bet they'd be right there (kicking your ass)
No, I would not expect anything from the cops. However, the 911 system is taped and timed. It involves more people in the problem some of who are civilian emergency workers in the 911 system. All of this as I said gives your lawyer something to subpoena. The more people who know about any incident the more likely it is that the truth will come out.
"Hindsight is a wonderful thing" sounds a tad too much like a victorian "grown-ups(people over 21 years of age, of course)know best" for my liking. 20 years old is a ridiculously high age to not be allowed to drink an alcoholic drink. These are adult people being confined and restricted, in what people have rightly pointed out is supposed to be the land of the free.
You have at least another 40 odd years too pickle your kidneys.. A modicom of restraint while your developing as a person..is not going to harm anyone. Their is nothing ''grown up'' about drinking. I guess you mean ''adults'' would be able to restrain themselves and act responsible ?? Well maybe..but the majority don't. Think about all the times people wake up with a bit of a hangover and then find it difficult to study.. Not that i have done any major studies [or anything].. I reckon you lose about 10% of your potential .. Not having alcohol before till your 21 is no big infringement on anything..it would probably be a benefit in the long run. If i did not sound like a victorian before.. i probably do now..
I just think it is rediculous our lawmakers think that that 18 year old boys are old enough to go to war and die for their country, but not to buy a drink.
As someone who was (a long long time ago) once an 18 year old grunt. Let me thank you for that. (grin)
Im not denying that drinking alcohol in excess is a negative thing. But once we become adults, these things are our choice, no matter what. How can you say- 1.18 year olds and 21 year olds are adults able to make their own choices 2.Drinking is bad for our health 3.Its fine for 21 year olds to drink, but not for 18 year olds. Somethin doesnt quite add up there.
