Commonly defined as a dump that is barb-wired into heaps......lately, I feel like I'm the only one who still has one. Has everyone gotten rid of their landfills?

Fresh Kills, in Staten Island, used to be liable to be seen from outer space. Nowadays, New York City's waste is shipped to the outskirts of Johannesburg.

Is that the proper use of ''rotten''?

no barbed wire here....but they usually put up industrial type chain link fencing to keep the bears out

they are way more complicated than just a "heap"...you'd be surprised at the engineering involved to keep the water table safe ..and lots of them are recovering the gases now as alternative fuel

Yeah, there's a lot of engineering that goes into those 'heaps'

There's nothing like the beauty of garbage as far as the eye can see [IMG]

    Not to mention the smell.

I can always tell when I'm getting close to my city, when coming from the west. I can smell the landfill, well before I get the city limits sign.

But we call create garbage, so I have a hard time being really haughty about it.
