I agree, absolutely. There's blatant, easy-to-spot racism. Then there are petty nitpicks which ultimately boil down to nothing and waste time. The more we accept that Indians eat butter, the further we are toward reaching tolerance and understanding!

Gosh, for someone who claims tolerance, he doesn't seem very tolerant of those with learning disabilities, especially since I don't have any, and I'm of a Native American ethnicity. Sheesh.

I guess you find the topic matter not really worthy so you decide to focus on a non essential point.

 

The real topic isn't whether the Native American girl is racist or not, she clearly isn't. The real topic is just how worked up anyone could get worked up over a perfectly respectful and nicely-drawn Indian squaw.

 

If you have any proof that she's racist, please post it here. I'm tired now, but I'll check back.

 

You change it to that because the real focus of the topic doesn't suit you. Your assertion that people are worked up over the mascot is a valid addition to the topic (just like everybody elses thought on the matter). But to say the real topic isn't about wether the mascot is discriminating or not is wishful thinking on your part. In fact, it hints at intolerance

 

I know Mystic and I get it. As a westerner of East Asian heritage I've been there too. I've been made to feel *this* big in my home country. This is why it is so difficult to ignore this blatant ignorance.

My issue isn't with the ignorant assumption that native Americans were somehow butter fiends enough that kneeling while presenting butter to their conquerors was not only common but common enough to define history, but that any challenge to this history is fake news. Its that white America gets upset when they and they themselves don't get to define the history of America.

Have native Americans eaten corn in the past 1000 years? Sure. All tribes? Lol no. Have they eaten butter? Maybe In the past century. Does any of this define their culture to the point where blanket statements apply? No. So using there imagery for butter is basically using freezing inuit imagery to showcase life in the tropics

 

How do we know this native girl isn't racist? What if she's holding it out only offering it to her own people and not you? Huh! It's discrimination! The logo needs to go!

Am I seriously in the bad books for referring to a car on a topic I was clearly stirring someone up about, when in fact edited my post just to tell you not to take that seriously, just in case you weren't aware of the Aussie slang used for the terminology of the automobile. I mean for the first time in my life I edited a post to tell someone hey, I'm just fuckin' around, because clearly calling a car Jap Crap is just banter, not that I was even talking to her to begin with, that's how much I thought about what I'd said and I still think it's fine. Just playful banter, nothing to it. But to think Irm wouldn't poke a lil cultural poke at what she'd consider a friend?? (which, again wasn't even in communication with) C'mon. Is it even a friendship if you can't do that? I mean we could banter about WW2 like before seemingly this brings up no emotion but refer to a Mitsubishi as Jap Crap ohh now I'm crossing a line.
