Lady gaga and her so called "liking" of metal.

I think the debate here is at cross purposes, if I may. Some individuals are saying only musicians can judge music... I think what they mean is only musicians can judge the 'technique', things of that nature. The other side is saying all people who can listen to music can judge how 'good' or 'bad' it is for themselves. I think both sides are right, but something is being lost in how these points are said and it may be important to realize they are not mutually exclusive. Maybe I'm wrong, thought I'd give it a shot.

Perhaps an example... anyone can of course give their opinion of who makes better music between Clapton and Hendrix; in this way as a matter of taste all opinions tend toward being equal. In terms of who is the better guitarist technically, I tend to think other musicians thoughts carry more weight.

 

Of course more insight can make an opinion more valid but it's obvious to me this does not depends on musicianship. Making music does, having an valid opinion does not.

 

It's the soul of music lovers and the opinion of guitarists that make the perfect union when coming to judge TRUE music

 

What's the difference between judging music and true music?

 

What I meant wss there is TRUE music and it has ro be judged a s such and there's FAKE music ....that jhas to be judged as such!!!!The difficult part is identifying which is which??!!

Fake is generally only described as such by people who can't stand it... or like to think that because the artist(s) are making music for the wrong reasons and thus is fake since it's not solely an expression of one's personality. Anyway, music can be made to express lots of other things than your personality.

Many so-called artists out there are rip-off artists more than music professionals and that tend to USE music as a vehicle to make DOUGH,,,,MONEY....CA$H!!!..and NOT to entertain and make people feel good as any artistic expression should be doing in reality!!
Examples of FAKE artists in the light of what I said above? Ezy:
MADONNA
MICHAEL JACKSON
J- LO
....AND MANY OTHERS like them who are put up there by the fetish fad of the moment created by their fans and NOT through their expression of TRUE music!

 

Perhaps you're confusing commercial or pop with fake?
