The only shoes I'm kinda attached to are the canadian rubber boots way too big for me, from Walmart. Ah I just love them - they go everywhere (with my feet in) - summer or winter - and I don't damn care how it looks like anyway.

Had 1 pair high heels once upon a time - boyfriend's present - never wore them - threw them in the garbage, together with the nylon stockings & sexy underwear. LoL.

High heels imobilizes women so that she can't get away, much like foot binding and those insane high shoes geisha were forced to wear. Maybe wearing high heels while having sex with a taller man was a benefit to the woman's pleasure?

I've no idea - but high heels are like cigarettes. You just don't need them to be healthy.

I love my fuck me boots (not to be confused with hooker boots that no one should own). I have them in black and have had those for four years and just bought these a couple months ago so I have some in brown and with a more delicate heel and pointed toe. my black ones are a little more fuck me:

My mom has the same theory. I wearing them is empowing. At 5'9 and already leggy I look amazing in heels (if I don't say so myself) and it's very satisfying knowing every guy in the club wants to take you home and you're going to opt to go to dennys with your girls instead and sleep in your bed. It mobilizes me to enjoy putting guys in their place ahaha.

Ouch, poor boyfriend getting you a present and you just junking 'em. I can't make myself throw out someone's present until I've had it for years, I always try and get some use out of 'em

 I like my heels, I don't put wearing a pair of 3" spike heels once every few months on teh same level as -years- of painful foot binding that was forced on women. Mind you sex in heels is hella fun :X

yeah I don't put it on the same level either - mainly because being forced into a painful, mutilating practice (foot binding) is totally different from wearing something that is just a bit of fun.

I'm really interested by this though:
what do you mean by that? get away from what?

I think the shoe issue with women is just spoilt self indulgence, really. I own about three pairs, myself, and haven't the desire to extend my 'collection'

    it's not always women
in the hip hop culture, guys are just as obssessed with shoes

    I don't get it either
clothes are just what you wear so you are warm and not nakey, people make way too big of a deal about them

mmm, i'm more of a boots & trainer person. i could go mad in the timberland shop buying boots because they are my favourite. i love trainers but i'm a bit more fussy when it comes to trainers because i'll only have a certain type. i do own a pair of black & a pair of white knee high & calf high stilleto boots for when i go out roud town in winter. in summer i love to wear wedges, its just the look of then i like & they are more comphy i feel. when i wear them its not like i'm wearing heals at all. i wont go out & buy lots of high heals, i dont get to wear them that often because i dont go out round town that much, i'm more of a pub person where you can be more casually dressed & i am more of a casually dressed person. my older sisters are mad on high heals, they had lodes of different pairs in alsorts of colours & styles so if i ever need a pair i borrow from them & if they ever need a pair of trainers they borrow from me.

i think guys can be obssessed with shoes & not be considered gay. my partner & mates partner love shoes, ok not girly shoes but boots, trainers, flip flops.

I love my few pairs of shoes and boots, yes I admit that I have hooker boots, with 5.5 inch heels, I find something empowering about being taller then everyone in the room.

I'm on the "don't understand" side of this one. Shoes are things I strap onto my feet, to keep objects on the ground from puncturing them. lol! ;) I own two pairs of new balance tennis shoes, identical except one pair is blue and the other is brown. I wear one of each most every day (yes, a brown and a blue). I also have a pair of sandals (I usually buy one at the beginning of every summer and wear clean through them by the time the weather cools) and a pair of clunky boot-type shoes for when I need them.

I see shoes for their utilitarian purposes. But then, I've never had much style when it comes to my own clothing... Just kinda put on what's clean. :)

I love shoes, I have about 20 pairs, am always looking for more. I can't any more at the moment however because I am saving. :( But I love them, theres just something about a pair of shoes that can make or break an outfit.

Eh - I like shoes, but I don't collect them. That just seems terribly childish and silly to me.

I donate all of my used clothing, apparel and books to the unfortunate all of the time. I'm *constantly* clearing out my cupboards for food to donate to my local foodbank.

I think it's silly to accumulate so much 'stuff' and I find clutter to be very distracting (I had ADD) and there are so many ways that I can actually do more good than to accumulate 'stuff' because I somehow found a justification to purchase whatever I caught sight of.

Less is best in my opinion when it comes to attachments to material goods. Not as if I'm planning on living in heaps upon heaps of crap in my house, especially when I'm old so I figure I might as well give it away. I think people that have strong attachments to their clothing and apparel have serious self-esteem issues and I'm not afraid to say it.

Like shoes with all your little heart's content - that is what most of the dominating male world wants from you - Affluence, thy name is WOMAN.

There's nothing wrong with having a few pairs of shoes - but for Christ's sake - have some respect for your shoes and wear them until they fall apart before they go out of style!

I own 4 pairs of shoes. My ratty work in the yard tennis shoes, my nice sneakers I wear with everything, a pair of heeled boots I got on sale at JC Penny's and wear once in every great while, and my sandals. I see people wearing cute shoes I like all the time, but I don't really like to shop so I have the bare minimum of shoes, clothes, stuff like that. I'm probably traumatized from living years being dragged around from sale to sale with my shopaholic mother. Plus, no matter what shoes i have I ususally end up wearing my sneakers with everything - I'm all about comfort.

I don't understand it but I'm definately addicted. I have about 13 pairs, and I always find a new pair I want. though to be truthful, I usually only wear my sandals in the summer and my boots in the winter. I just like having options to coordinate outfits with.

I never said it was forced, at all. I think it's choice, by all means. I am just trying to understand people and things they like. Personally, I never notice shoes on people (with the exception of being on an acid trip at a Grateful Dead concert, propped up against a wall, on the ground, and seeing ALL these feet in Birkenstocks and thinking "Wow, everybody has FEET, man, and we are all related to one an other from our Birkenstocks.......man." [IMG] ) But, in my right mind I don't even see them.

What is the differnce between "Fuck me boots" and "Whore boots?" My guess would be one womyn's "fuck me" boots are an other womyn's "whore boots." [IMG]

OT to Aris, I completely admire your ability to throw things away. It's something I am working on now (not shoes, as I have few, but just clutter junk.) [IMG] Saving something "because it was a gift" is one of the ways people really clutter up their lives. I NEED to get on board with what you are doing. Really.

^^ Funny, Maggie, I'm almost doing the opposite. (Trying to *accumulate* stuff) All these years of keeping mobile and being able to crunch all our belongings into a van if need be - now I'm feeling that urge to "settle down" at least for a few years, and accumulate some of those basic things most people have been accumulating all their lives. Decorative things, posters, tapestries, always looking for books, instruments, cookware. Suddenly I'm a shoppy housewife all the time![IMG]

That's OK, humblebee. You are the age for that now. I have to make up for nearly 23 years of barely throwing anything away. When a family of 6 has completely filled up a TEN ROOM house, and the basement and all the closets and two garages and two sheds, it is TIME to make some room. When I was your age, I had virtually nothing and had to get some stuff to live, too.

But, I do think Arisartle has a good idea on keeping a cap on accumulation. I wish I had thought more about it about 15 years ago. :)
