I suspect that Frauke Petry will eventually take Angela Markel's job. Both are chemical scientists, very smart and successful in the private sector before getting into politics. I know we have smart successful woman in the US, so how come we don't have more of them in politics? Why are we stuck with Hilary Clinton or Carly Fiorina?

About 8 years ago the US decided wether it would rather have the first black man or the first white woman as president.

We all know how that ended.

smart people are harder to control, so they aren't allowed in politics.

not sure what gender has to do with anything.

Well they didn't get where they are by being stupid.

But truthfully I think you are simply being a troll.

Lemme just sprinkle some of this stuff around...

Sigh, unfortunately Hillary might not get there and the main reason will be she is too smart.

I think Hilary Clinton is basically evil but I'm not sure how anyone could deny her intelligence.

I thought so too. Then I saw a recent interview concerning the e-mail server mess she got herself into. It was a complete mess.

Not a troll. Just sick of life long politicians. I would rather vote for someone who succeeded in the private sector before entering politics.

I think given the worlds economic woes recently, many might consider giving a CEO type a go at the top job. Why the Trump thing is getting a little bit scarier with each passing week. Might even be a good idea in the financial sense. But foreign policy? Imagine him and Putin together

Helluva title for "not a troll"
    What, a misogynist then?

Why? Government of the US is not meant to be run like a business.

Boy am I sorry for the wording in the thread title. No I'm not a misogynist. I am actually a huge Angela Merkl fan and would vote for her if I could. I think its time for the US to have a female president but not Clinton or Carly Friona. I know our country has some very smart woman but I guess the US is still too old fashioned to elect a woman President.

"Success" in the private sector is vastly overrated. Fiorina did @HP what she was brought in to do: downsize. When the company foundered, she was canned. Not sure that's a success. Her debate comments on missiles in E. Europe & more U.S. troops in Germany show her head's still buried in the Cold War: 1965 v. 2015. Altho it's also where the majority of Pentagon heads are buried.

Clinton is long on name recognition; short on all else. The email server fiasco only shows she thought she could pull a fast one, & now she's only irritated that she was found out. Yet, in during the whole Monica Lewinsky debacle, Barry Goldwater suggested that Bill shut up & let Hillary run the show.

It was apparent to me @the time & even more now that Geraldine Ferraro would've made a wonderful President, altho, of course, she was only a V.P. candidate. Back in the early 70s, I admired NY congresswoman Shirley Chisholm: she declared but ended up w/drawing. & BTW, the feminist crowd (Abzug, Steinam) totally opposed, even mocked, her.
