Sounds like you were glad to be born but I don't see where you come to the conclusion that you are glad you weren't born in America. Would that be South or North America?
North, I wouldnt be happy in such a large country. I used to be very anti-American, I grew out of that but some things still get to me. I mean...ye do sometimes come across as utterly thick Obviously most of ye arent and (mostly) everyone on HF is sound but internationally youre still judged by shit like this:  I mean, in all fairness...thats just funny as fuck Ill see for myself one day (if Im allowed in the country) so not judging at all till then.
Oh god no tell me that's not real. Please, some one, any one tell me this is a joke. Tell me this is not actually a news cast by the same people who are trying to be the world's leaders in everything. PLEASE!!!!
You mean like Belize? Humor is good. Yeah, no need to get all reactionary about something that hasn't happened yet.
Was talking about North America but I bet Belize is a beautiful place Humour is good, there sometimes a fine line between stupidity and humour though What hasnt happened yet? Got lost somewhere there...
The first half of this is pretty dumb, though it also just shows how little expectations the American soccer team had that we'll count a tie as winning. The second half is extremely dumb since despite repelling them twice and inflicting serious losses we straight up lost the battle of Bunker hill in the end.(which actually took place on Breed's hill), there was no tie, I mean we did take Boston in the end the next year, but there was no tie in this specific battle.
Ah, when I see shit like this, I am so glad I am out of the country and don't have to witness it on a daily basis, because shit like this does happen on a daily basis in America. Now, I only see this from time to time on the internet. But trust me, here in China, many people are extremely ignorant of the world outside their country too. I'd venture to say some are even worse than the average American.
Honestly stuff like that newscast doesn't really happen that often, Americans are melodramatic, the internet spreads things like wildfire, and both Americans and non-Americans find something like that and spread it to all corners of the internet to try to prove something. But I mean, we're the 3rd largest country in both area and population, we have 310 million people over the geographical equal of most of Europe with almost the same population as the EU. So are you telling me there won't be one news broadcast today in the EU that's not going to mislabel something by accident.
I knew a college-age Chinese girl who traveled outside her country and was talking about news stories to us after the 9/11 event. She said, "I saw some goof on the TV news who said he was going to solve the terror problem by 'smoking out' the terrorists. Ha Ha!" I didn't have the heart to tell her it was GW Bush, President of the United States. .
funny I was just thinking how neanderthalish non-internet people were when it comes to discussions.. They dont seem to have many facts.
True the british drove the continental army off the charlestown peninsula but lost nearly half of its force in doing so. and they may have actually lost the battle if the american reinforcements on bunker hill chose to engage the british forces instead of retreat :toetap05: Hotwater
That soccer match was outrageous though. England didn't lose but it was still quite an embarrassment for them, to play for a tie against a team that is generally laughed at by the rest of the world.
