A UK under a CON-DEM ing Government and Lazy LABOUR Opposition Hope for the Future?= Not Looking Good Seems that its down to us to add an R to our Evolution
Roamy, its no joke, the poor now have to pay a tax for having an extra bedroom, and it doesnt matter if you have an invilid partner you dont sleep with, you cant have a room of your own! Terrible
You mean people claiming housing benefit have to pay for space that isn't being used and could be used. I didn't get the full amount of rent when I was getting housing benefit. Private rent How much you get is usually based on: The Local Housing Allowance Limit in your area (in my case it was about 85% of my rent) Your income - including benefits, pensions and savings over £6,000) your circumstances Property Weekly amount 1 bedroom (or shared accommodation) Up to £250 2 bedrooms Up to £290 3 bedrooms Up to £340 4 bedrooms Up to £400 Exception If you’ve been getting Housing Benefit since before 7 April 2008, these limits only apply if you: Change address Have a break in your claim for Housing Benefit https://www.gov.uk/housing-benefit/what-youll-get Get over it. I had to.
You would think totaly different, if you had a partner that suddenly became bed bound, he loses his job, you give up work to care for him, and by doing that, you save thousands, then you pay for your bedroom! Because the government think you can sleep on the floor! Get over it, ha, stop reading links, and get into the real world!

I am in the real world. I have had to struggle to pay for my full rent myself - while I wasn't working, and totally reliant on JSA an housing benefits. So I know how difficult it can be. There wasn't much I could do about it, and don't remember people up in arms over it, either. I have not been in the predicament you describe, no. And maybe it was a little harsh to just say 'get over it' (regardless of circumstances)... However, I think most people should 'get over it'. If I had to, I'd probably try and get two single beds...or transform the living room... It depends if it is a council property or not. I take it in this e.g the full rent was being paid for by the council?
Erm, the picture in the OP isn't showing up. It looks like it's from your album here...and those types of links don't always work...
No, they pay nothing, because of savings that had to be spent on a special bed, that takes up too much room for another bed, drips, etc, prevent the couple sleeping together...well they would. The wife sleeps in the living room, the little other room, is stacked with stuff for the husbands condition..
Blimey, what a predicament! This person sounds like they should be in hospital or some type of care home. And, the council pay nothing at all because of the savings they have? Not even a portion? So where does the 'bedroom tax' come in with regards to this couple?
They no longer have the savings, they also have to pay 12pound council tax a month, this is because the wife gets 52 pound carers allowance, a week..he doesnt qualify for mobility, he doesnt leave the house, very crafty that one! If he goes into a home, it will cost a fortune for the government, plus there are no places available, private care is out the question, it costs 50 pound a week, for two two hour slots, for a carer to sit with him, so the wife can go shopping! Carers allowance is a joke!
was just talkin' to a friend on the phone about it.its true alright.but our people have already blocked it from being brought in to northern ireland for the next years ahead. one of my english friends living here was telling me bout a council tax thing before, that even the poor have to pay over there.we don't have that either,or water charges.just the big rich buissness people like shop owners an stuff have to pay them to the local council authorities.the only thing people have to pay for is bin collection .but it dose'nt apply to unemployed or disabled people.but the water charges thing is coming in in the new year.but it won't apply ta poor people.waivers! theres a new privately owned property tax thing coming in two.but thats only 100yearly.and its only for property owners who can afford it. and in private rented accomodation its the landlords or landladies, the owners of the property that has to pay it.the very elderly property owner people are also not expected to pay it for as long as they have left to live.it will come later after their death ta be paid by the younger generation of the family.my friend said the new bedroom tax thing your talking about will mean peoples benefits who them being cut by 40-80 pounds .thats going ta put people under wicked poressure.here your just allowed as many rooms as you need.and free grants for improvement for rooms for people with special needs.there has been cut backs during recession though. but we're leaving the trica on dec 15th with a more credit needed agreement.so things are on the way up again. the present disability allowance after some cut backs during recession is still 215euros weekly per disabled person plus an extra 40meuros the first tuesday of every month.,plus rent allowance for people who need it. how much is it over there ?
Oh, I see. So, the council is paying a portion now? Why doesn't she shop online? Or spend an hour out and about and buy the food online (saving £25 a week) Perhaps do a MASSIVE shop that will last a few weeks... I think some savings could be made there... Sadly 'the council/government' isn't ever going to - and to my knowledge has ever - payed the same amount of money as people were once (prior to a change in circumstances) accustomed to. The e.g you raise isn't really the norm, it's an exception, and I would imagine they have seeked advice (perhaps from the Citizens advice)... I do feel for them, but why should I feel totally different because of an exception?
That isnt far from the norm now, I know a lot of people have played the system, and that needed cut backs, we know what im refering to, it gets enough air time, but there are people who shouldnt be tared with waste of space... Shop on line? She doesnt have internet man! She shops the old way, shop to shop, charity shops etc! She cant make savings any more than she does! People like them need help, they dont smoke or drink, and she cooks, no prepared foods...its sad, very sad...
Well, I think so. Btw, what were they using the other bedroom for beforehand (before it was being used for storage, I presume)? Actually, I don't know, exactly. Teenage mums? Asylum Seekers? Immigrants? Erm, single males? Personally, I'm not saying this couple is a 'waste of space' - but it always seems the case some e.g such as this is raised. And I'm supposed to be broken hearted over it. I sympathise, for sure. That's about as far as it goes. Nobody seems to care about my predicament (well, my past predicament) - why should I overly care about others? Just a suggestion. Does she visit the local butcher, too? (Sorry to be cynical - but come on...this e.g is starting to sound a little unbelievable) I agree people like them need help... How MUCH help, though? : /
btw, may I ask... Why the thread is titled: 'labour crap!'? And why you said: 'Traitors to the people!'?
