i usually don't bother writing long messages on this site because it is afterall a true waste of time. much better to be using that time making records, making money, making fame, LIVING however short it may be and then ensuring that years after you are dead people talk about u. some people are twisted enough to want fame at such a high price and perhaps curt cobain was one of them. we won't get into speculative details.

some may think hes an asshole, yeah why shouldnt u. hell he got shit served to him on a silver platter but he wasn't greatful. lets rant and rave about it and not even make money by doing it. i'm sorry to say, my friend, that YOU are a loser. get over yurself and yur hate for a long gone dead man and get a LIFE.

and for the record. i'm not a nirvana fan. i like them, only because some of their songs were actually kinda good. how else would the former members have such a successful band today?

Yes, HEAVIER THAN HEAVEN does pamper Courtney, so one had better read other stuff before forming any opinions...but I've read the other stuff too, and this particular book is both well written and intriguing.

wow Brocktoon, that was awesome. Its great to see someone who's gotten the point. Everyone else acts like he was the freakin' messiah. His music was trash, his message was trash, and only retains popularity today because of his death, and I guess most angsty teens idolize that. I'd write more, but I gotta go. AWESOME THREAD.

puctuation please? the way that you worded that didn't make much sense whatsoever... Yes, some of their songs were definitely good, like 'Heart Shaped Box', 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter', and the last 4 songs off of Incesticide were rather good too. But honestly, they really are incredibly overrated, and didn't even write that great of lyrics. but oh well...

I thought it was a really good story. It really shows the gritty reality behind all that foofoo we put over our faces. Kurt was an idiot, so he killed himself or his stupid bitch wife did. Those kids were idiots, so they killed themselves too. Suicide is the pussy's way out of life. A real man would sit in the shit-stew he brewed and deal.

In any case, Cobain was entirely over-rated as a person, over-rated as a musician, and even more over-rated as the "gen-x leader". I can't say I'm happy to have seen him dead, but I will say this: Thank god he's not making any new albums so that 'gen-XI' doesn;t make the same mistake 'gen-X' did.

i think kurt genuinely had trouble accepting his fame, and you can't criticise or ridicule someone (even after death) for a fear they have/had. It'd be like someone teasing you because of your seemingly insignificant fear. People saw that Kurt was uncomfortable with fame, but saw it as insignificant because he was making loads of money. Kurt couldn't see anyway out, he was obviously terrified...

I don't think Kurt's lyrics would have been as popular if they hadn't come from his heart, that is why so many people can relate to them.

 

by the way, I am not a hard core fan or anything, I have listened to a bit of Nirvana (haven't we all?!) but I find Kurt to be a really interesting personality. But there I go again with my behavioural science stuff.....oh the psychology of it all!
