Supposedly krokodil is appearing in the US now. Is there any way of differentiating this stuff from dope? I don't ever want to accidentally shoot this shit. Does it smell like gasoline? Can it be snorted? Supposedly the two women who went to the hospital were using it for a year thinking it was heroin! Scary stuff. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...proof-Russian-flesh-eating-drug-used-U-S.html http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/1...n_4073417.html http://gothamist.com/2013/10/11/horr...rokodil_dr.php

I knew it was only a matter of time.. about a year ago, I saw the "vice" documentary on it. I thought, "well american druggies are gonna see this and see money." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsUH8llvTZo"]Krokodil: Russia's Deadliest Drug (NSFW) - YouTube
Supposedly codeine is available over the counter in Russia. Which makes me wonder why and how it's being made here? Is there really an abundance of Tylenol 3's on the street to be used as a precursor?
Yeah, that's a good point. The only supply is people with prescriptions, and I don't imagine there are too many people doctor-shopping for Tylenol #3, lol. At about a buck each there's no money in it. Even in Russian immigrant neighborhoods, people who want Heroin will get Heroin. Why mess with this low-rent garbage? There are idiots everywhere though, and there have been a few cases. But on one of those youtube videos there was a clip from CNN about it, and they had this sensational headline of "Krokodil spreads across U.S." I remember thinking, what the fuck has happened to CNN? They're getting to be like Fox News. I mean, shit, in Siberia you can get Codeine otc, there's not much Heroin available, and when it is, they can't afford it because it's Siberia and everybody's broke. In that documentary those kids were talking about tearing apart old houses and selling cinder blocks to get money for this crap. Not copper wire, which was probably ripped out years ago, but cinder blocks. Now that's broke.
Krokodil (desomorphine) does seem pretty messed up yeah. I'd have to ask a chemist or something to explain why desomorphine is apparently so dangerous, and yet morphine and even diamorphine seem relatively fine. Weird...
If it's synthesized correctly you end up with a drug that's 8 times as potent as Morphine. But these guys are using things like gasoline, paint thinner and red phosphorus, traces of which remain in the final product. And they're not snorting it but injecting it. The homemade version doesn't last very long so they have to keep doing it. If you miss a vein you have these chemicals under your skin, and if you don't miss a vein they're traveling throughout your body.
In the U.S.? There haven't been that many cases. A few not far from me over in Joliet, and I think a couple maybe in New Mexico or Oklahoma. And where would they be getting the Codeine in bulk? I don't even see a profit incentive for it. Dealers want to keep their customers around for awhile. I believe these are just isolated cases in the U.S. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Time will tell.
Or most likely the cases we do hear about were addicts on the verge of withdrawal's who with no alternative went online and got the recipe and made something to get them through and in turn got hooked because they had the resources for an abundance of the ingredient's. While there is no doubt that we have addicts in the US who will see this drug as a new fix, most addicts have seen the affects of this drug before it got here, hopefully it doesn't catch on! One thing to think about though is that most people with opiate addictions know withdrawals won't kill you which can outweigh getting high off of a drug that is sure to kill you!
