To KC: right on. Racism comes from all sides. I'm sure there's gonna be some redneck hick out there somewhere who ends up beating up some innocent korean kid, but I don't see it being widespread.

In General: I'm all about preserving your own heritage/culture, but taking it so far as refusing to mingle with americans or speak our "native" language, that's alienates you more than any random shooter ever could. I'm not trying to be the "learn to speak english or get out" type, but really, when anyone decides to live in a foreign country, you generally end up part of that society. I've known people from Vietnam and a couple of other countries, who have been here 5 years or more, and they're english is just as broken and mangled as it was the day they moved here. Point is, you can't hide yourself as a group away from the society you choose to become part of, and then expect people to simply understand.

i'm not saying i didn't have a few friends, more acquaintances, really. i thought highly of them, we just didn't have much in common. and their mother's didn't like me. to be wholly honest, though, MOST mother's didn't like me, so it was all moot. these weren't fresh immigrants. these were second and third generation. as a family became more comfortable in society, their kids were definitely more outgoing. that's people anywhere you find them, and whatever color their skin. in a new environment, we tend to migrate towards those people who have the most in common with ourselves.

I have no opinion of Koreans.

If I have an opinion of anyone, I base it on their character.

You want to talk about racism, drop a couple of African Americans off in Seoul. Koreans are so scared of them, they'll get lynched there quicker than in Alabama. And let's not even get into how Koreans feel about the Japanese...
