My darling little black cat has had a bit of a weepy eye today and I'm not sure why. Her left eye has had a small amount of dischage around it and some of the weepyness hardened to a crust below her eye. I got rid of the crusty stuff and wiped a bit of te discharge away but Im just wondering how this could have been caused and is there anything I can do 4 her to make it go away??
a few months ago I noticed my cat had the same 'weepy eye' and he was keeping it closed as much as he could. I brought him to the vet and it turned out that he had an infection and it actually had spead to both eyes. So I had him on antibiotics and was using an eye ointment on him that the vet gave me and it took some time but eventually went away. So maybe it could be the start of an infection....just keep an eye on it (no pun intended ) and if you notice that he is keeping shut then it is probably hurting him and he will need a prescription. Good luck to you and your kitty!
kitty probably needs to go to the vet. that eye thing is really contagious to other cats, and uncomfortable for them. you're right to keep cleaning it off with a warm wet cloth, though, in addition to whatever else the vet says to do.
she was a little bit better today, but there was still some crusty stuff (she gets all stroppy with me when I have 2 wipe it off) but shes opening up her eye a lot more altho its still a tiny bit smaller than the other and she looks a bit bung. Im gonna keep an eye on it and see if it keeps improving, but if it gets worse Ill take her to the vet on thursday when I get paid.
