Ehhh, haven't got into them yet but I think in a good few years I'll look back and think that 'use somebody' single was alright. I could see it having some use in movies too. Like someone else said there is alot worse stuff out there and sometimes simple pop rock songs can be a nice change from listening to overly ambitious somewhat anonymous virtuousity in rock/metal/and electronica.
Not in the UK, in fact they are easily known as the most overrated band in Britain. All the yuppies love them, and those two hits they had. But their new audience is fickle, and wont listen to any other than those two songs. They used to be good, but now they are pretty rubbish I think. The first couple of CD's rocked, now they are poster boys and just trying to right hits for the radio The singer Caleb, he has a good voice though.
I saw them live, they are a decent band, and they can write radio singles that sound better than a lot of other guys trying to do the same thing.
what's their other hit besides 'use somebody?' ahhaha oh wait isn't it sex on fire?? or something... answered my own question, i think i only heard that a few times... i don't have a radio.
I agree with you guys about "use somebody" and "sex on fire" being waaayyy to overplayed, but they have other shit that is so good like the Aha shake heartbreak album.
^ Yeah, but I HIGHLY doubt they still play their good music since going mainstream. Also, first CD was better =P
^Im sure they cater to their popularity and new fanbase but they may play old stuff as well. I remember when I saw the goo goo dolls when they were at their peak a 1/4 of the setlist was still their early more punkish stuff.
