The only real solution is to just be more on the ball. I've been ripped 3 or 4 times when buying drugs, never more than £15 (~$30) thankfully, but each time could have been prevented by being generally aware of the chance of being ripped off.

I buy ketamine quite regularly, and as such I can tell if it's genuine just by tasting it. I've never bought mushrooms before so I can't be sure, but I hear they taste AWFUL. Ketamine and MDMA also taste foul, but two completely distinctive types of foulness. I know different species of mushrooms contain psilocybin, but a taste test can't hurt.

If you absolutely cannot afford to lose $75, then insist on a sampler beforehand. If the dealer won't indulge your request, tell him to forget it. Any half decent dealer shouldn't mind waiting a little for your $75. If you're arranging to meet somewhere specific, make sure the dealer knows your conditions beforehand.

This is a little off topic but as Hemisphere mentioned about tasting Ketamine to tell if it's fake or not does anyone know if that can work for shrooms? I've tried them a couple times and don't mind the taste but I don't think you could tell that they would be fake by just tasting it, but maybe I'm wrong?

 

fake shrooms are dangerous and I have no idea whether you can tell form the taste as I imagine teh fake ones taste like sh*t too .

its not like he sold them to a really cool dude that was like from the sixties and just wanted one last trip... i think there are situations where you can rip kids off, ive been ripped off plenty of times and it helped me learn what not to do the next time.
