Hello Hip forums members! I'm new to the website, just been doing some internet forum searching and this place seems like the place to ask some questions that have been on my mind recently. So here it goes; my girlfriend and I started dong pills about a year ago, after recently having a tooth infection, and found out that snorting them gives you a rather nice buzz/high, as well as a pain relief. Well, a year later I'm constantly wanting to get that buzz/high and find myself suffering through what must be withdrawls when I can't seem to get my hands on anything (Hydros, Oxy, and Morphines mainly). So I came to this forum, did some research on how to get rid of the anxiety, restlessness, unabilty to sleep well and just all around feeling like garbage if I don't get something in my system.
Well heres where hip forums comes in; I have read about a drug that makes the withdrawls almost dissapear or atleast reduces the effect a substantial amount, according to all the threads I've read about it. Its called Gabapentin and I've looked up buying it online, thus not needing a prescription, and all I found was some on 1800petmeds.com. So I looked into them to see if they were the same ingredients as the ones prescribed to humans, and I believe they are the same. Anyways, my girlfriend and I are over wasting money on a shitty addiction that was never ment to be. So some of my main questions are....

1: If I order some of these from pet meds and make sure all ingrediants are exactly the same as prescribed to humans, will they still help the withdrawals? (Which from what I read online, I think they should.)

2: Does anyone else have good advice on other ways to drop this barely worthy habit?

Just background info on mine and my girlfriend's habit is we're about 30mg on hydro (each) per day, if we can get them, or about 20-25 mg of oxy per day. So were not like horrible pill heads or anything like that. It started out small and our tolerance slowly grew with our addiction. We don't want this to go any farther than it already has within the last year, while the price to support our habit goes up along with our tolerance. It isn't worth the money, or the come-down and we are ready to kick the habit! Any advice, recommendations, web links, or any knowledge at all really helps thank you! :afro:

You might want to check your plan with poison control

Please note, I have no experience with pills, so these are just my thoughts.

I don't know what country you are in, which is relevant. In principle, you should be eligible for some form of healthcare. I don't know what the system offers for recovery, or if it is of any use, but might be worthy of investigation.

Um personally I would just tough it out. It's going to be difficult regardless, and relying on yet another drug to cope seems counterintuitive if you're trying to get clean. It will probably take a month for the physical side effects to really calm down and a few months for your psychological habits to not revert back to using.

    Doesn't gabapentin only stop sweating?

And dude, honestly just tough it out if you really want to quit. It's like 4-5 days of physical withdrawls... That's nothing.

Whatever you do though, DO NOT get methadone. It is THE worst idea ever. The withdrawls from methadone last 1-2 months MINIMUM. If you have work or school, stay home. You need to get better more than you need to make money.

on a side note.... Isn't there another member called "drugsarebadmmkay"?

I have gone through wd a few times. The last time was after using heroin for close to two months iv 2-3-4 times a day.. I have always relied on kratom, it has helped more than anyone would believe. If i were you i would scratch the gaba plan and use some kratom. It helps you feel normal again, it helps you sleep all night so you can get thru the loong first few days.. You really should try it.. Need and more help or support let me know, I'll help out as much as i can. Take care, be strong.

Without knowing how much you take daily and from what you've said in opening post, I also agree with the other two here who said tough it out. The problem with taking other non-opiate MEDs to fight off withdrawals is once the physical part of the WDs is over you are still going to have the mental withdrawals and like another stated, GABA isnt the be all end all drug for withdrawals, it may take care of 1-2 symptoms and that is taking fairly large doses of it, there will be other symptoms you will deal with. Depending on how much you were dosing daily on opiates, if your doses are low, you may not even have any mental side effects, but if you do, Gaba certainly isn't going to help so you could be looking at taking an anti-anxiety med for it. Plus the hassle you will go through either getting Gaba or another chemical to fight off withdrawals, by the time you do that shit, your withdrawals would have been over. If you two just tough it out, go through full blown withdrawals on a habit less than 200mgs oxy/day, the sickness can be used to your advantage, meaning you most likely wont want to go through that shit again! The fortunate situation you find yourself in is that you have someone to go through it with, take a week off, most of it will be spent in bed, then you can say: Baby' I told you I'd spend the week in bed with you!

Your addiction really isnt that bad. I've been in the situation your in before and worse.
So with that said as other members have mentioned just tough it out. Google, "how to survive opiate withdrawl" and youll be fine. You don't need more pills to help or methadone or even kratom really. Save your money and deal with the choices you've made. It will most likely only be like 3 bad days for you and then it all gets easier. Be thankful you have your girl to go through this with. Bad withdraws are horrible when your alone.

Dont waste your money on Gabapentin, it will not help with any kind of opiate WD.

To get clean, you really have the will to do it, and anything short of 100% commitment, relapse will happen, but when you know something that is just a phone call or text away, that will take all those horrible wd feelings away, it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to resist, at least thats my experience. It will keep working on you, and working on you, minutes seem like hours, your lucky to get 2 hours sleep a day, you tell yourself.."well, i will just get a small amount, just for a short break from the wds", and that will help get me thru, but never does. this is very hard to commit to, especially if you have money in your pocket and a phone.

I agree with the ones who say to resolve to quit. Your doses aren't very high, but enough to feel some w/d, but nothing that's truly horrid by any means. Expect to feel some chills, tiredness, some insomnia, stomach pains and the runs. Your best bet is to get some Immodium (Loperamide) and it'll help with the GI symptoms and a tiny bit on the rest of it all. I've also used cough syrup (dextromethorphan) to ease some of the anxiety along with the loperamide. You'll be fine in less than a week. I've been on far more than this and went through awful w/d for 3 solid days, and day 4, I made it to the store for food and started eating and eating! I was emotionally unstable for about another week but had a strong resolve to be clean and it was the best thing I ever did. The harder part is staying off them once you've tasted them. Be prepared to fight cravings and have a few dreams of them. Seriously, now is the time to quit...before your doses are out of control.

You are right about the 'drug dreams' I freaking hate those when Im goin thru WD !!! I had one the last time that I still remember...I was at work and found an entire kilo of H, I was so excited in the dream and could not wait to find a needle and fix..but the dream was bad, while I had the drug, the dream seemed to drag on and on with my trying to find a needle and a spot to use it LOL

Sucks when you cant even get any relief from wds in the dream world, its like your body wants you to suffer every single second.

For sure! Reminds me of the dream I had finding a 55 gallon drum of morphine! They seem to clear up after being cleaned up for a month or so...for me, anyway.
