anything organic is always better.. BTW, i did some quick research. with a optimal yield it would take 2 acres of corn to raise a cow for a year.
Haven't gotten to a point where I know where I'm going to end up, so the kind of pasture land I will be considering hasn't come into mind yet.
Yeah, but from everything I've read they are more prone to disease (frankly could be propaganda, wouldn't put that past anyone, but, I feel like cows should be walking around a bit) Honestly, I really want a durable cow that more closely resembles it's far ancestors. hell, I'd probably just be better raising buffalo
well, damn. based on a SPECIFIC ranch in a part of nevada that is not the part of nevada I am interested in (they're a five hour drive apart) it'd be six acres per cow. or bison. grazing, so pasture does become quite important but, hey, I know how to build a small jet engine
the problem with corn fed cows (feed lot cows) is that the corn they are being fed is almost entirely GMO. im sure that has something to do with there health.. yeah location has a lot to do with how much land you need. i was reading a article the other day about a rancher in new mexico who runs cattle on 28000 acres. he needs 100 acres per cow,,
