It never occurred to me to research any of the ideas Kevin was presenting because I neither had a knowledge of them until his books came out, nor did I have access to research them until a few years ago. I didn't have the internet until the week I graduated from high school in 2003. I got the books for free on his site after paying the S&H, but I bought the first book-on-CD from Ebay long before I considered getting the books. I didn't even start using the library until somewhere around 2001. I had a childhood more sheltered than you could possibly understand. My parents didn't encourage me to go to the library or get the internet. In fact, I was only able to get the internet in 2003 because I payed for it myself. They were too cheap to get it. I also didn't really understand how to use the internet until I got it for myself. The school's attempt to teach it to me pretty much failed because I couldn't comprehend it at the time. I've lived my whole life confined to a small area and I have rarely ever travelled more than 15 miles from my parents home. Now that I am living alone with my own internet, I am just starting to learn about the world around me. Before the age of 14, I never bothered to. My parents hardly ever exposed me to anything, including the library. I had to learn to go to the library through school, where we had a class that taught us about the library. You can't research something that you aren't even aware of or when you don't have the means to do so.
Well, you don't have to keep explaining yourself...you know your situation much better than any of us do. But now that you have that information, do the research. I'm not going to lie and say I knew these things from birth either; I was actually far more subjected to it in the past 3 years since I got to know my fiancee's mother who is a Karate Sensei and has a ton of information on alternative medicine and what not. Just simply don't rely on this one book...use it to further your research. The more you know, the better. Even if it's false, it's better to know both sides of the spectrum; it's good to know the pros and cons of each side, and what better suits what you believe and such. My other point is, don't take what he says to such high account that you avoid new medicine at all costs ...it DOES have it's time and place. Yes, most American's misuse it...it's handed out and taken like candy, and with very feeble cause. But there are cases in which it serves a purpose, regardless of how much the companies that produce them, suck. Aside from Kevin's political stance and opinion about government and pharmaceutical companies, my best advice is do what you can do for you before relying on those drugs. America's biggest problem is that we want fast relief; our bodies aren't designed that way. We are supposed to rest, drink lots of water, etc...but none of us ever have the time between work and school, and the pressure put upon us to be there everyday working like a pig; so what do a lot of people do? Take a pill to make it all better so they can return to their robotic lives and please the people around them, or make more money. That's why these companies are so sucessful...they wouldn't be sucessful if the public didn't want to use them. With that said, however, if you rest, or even go a bit further and try things like acupressure/acupuncture, vitamins, etc, and you still do not improve, there is a chance you might need to turn to new medicine. Another problem people have is either A) Not trusting their doctor or B) Believing their doctor is god. It is in your hands to find a doctor that suits you and seems trustworthy and caring. it is in your hands to ask questions, and tell the doctor what is bothering you. And, if you don't think the doctor is right, or he/she just tends to be a plain asshole, get a second opinion or switch doctors. I've been through several doctors the past year; I had a pediatrician I loved and since I turned about 19, she couldn't help me as much, which she completely admitted, because pediatricians specialize in diagnosing diseases and conditions that affect immature bodies. So on my hunt for a regular physician, I've encountered a lot of flakes as much as a lot of solid doctors. The best thing I can say about a good doctor, is one that will admit when they simply do not know what is wrong, and will help refer you to another doctor, or work with you and spend more time to figure out what is going on. A good doctor will be open to hear your ideas about alternative medicines, and share their own if they know anything about it. My overall point is, yeah, the drug companies suck, and the government can and will be deceiving; but that has little to do with the choices you and your doctor make about your health... you have more say in it than you realize. I also want to say that, one reason I do not like Kevin Trudeau, and do NOT want to read his book is because while watching the infomercial, I didn't take well to his theory of "There is no disease....they just heap a bunch of symptoms into a category and call it a disease and treat it, so they can make more money" Try telling that to someone who has AIDs or cancer.... Oh, and the reason I have such a high opinion about this is because when you suffer from as many allergies and sinus issues and are in and out of the doctor's office as much as I am, you begin to learn a lot about what you as the "consumer" has to do to get the right information, and stay away from pills when you do not need them etc. It is a good thing if he reached you in a way that has opened your eyes to learn more about the subject and well, just be subjected to the topic as a whole. I just don't like a lot of things he had to say...not to mention did it ever ocurr to you that this guy used to work for the government, so why should you trust him any more than any other politician and crap? Thats my opinion anyway. To me, anyone that has worked that long for the government, knows how to be a snake, and I steer clear of relying on their advice or believing them too much.
