Hey, I get the first post in this forum, but I was wondering if any of you knew a good field studies program in Kenya(or other parts of Africa) for a college student Thnx
What kind of field are you in (there are a lot of studies out there; working with animal rehabilitation, nature conservation, orphanages, AIDS victims, the medical field, etc)?
There is a thing called "The School for Field Studies" and they have a program in Kenya that I am taking part in this summer. The aim is wildlife managment and what not. It is open to all majors and it is through Boston College and you can get 4 hours credit for it, probably varies on what it transfers as, for me it is Undergrad Research for a biology credit because that is my major. If you have any questions you can pm me and I will get you some more info. It seems like it is going to be badass.
Jambo! (Hello) Can't help you much, but I can say that I spent about a month in Kenya and Tanzania studying its ecology/natural history and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. It was with a group of nine students and a professor during a college class abroad. I would happy to give any advice based on my experiences there.
I am about to study Third World Studies with Swahili at SOAS in London, with a compulsory year at the University of Mombasa. You can't get much more perfect than that, right?
