Kellogg to drop Phelps over pot smoking photo

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Cereal and snack maker Kellogg Co. (K) (K) says it will not renew its sponsorhip contract with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps because he has acknowledged smoking marijuana last fall.
The Battle Creek, Mich.-based company said Thursday that Phelps's behavior - caught on camera and published Sunday - is "not consistent with the image of Kellogg."
The company put Phelps on boxes of its Frosted Flakes and Corn Flakes.
Phelps has kept the backing of many sponsors since the photos surfaced that showed him inhaling from a marijuana pipe.
Phelps's agent was not immediately available to comment.
Kellogg says its contract with Phelps expires at the end of the month.

Now here's you chance fellow stoners. Call Kelloggs and tell them that you are not happy about this and you will not be buying any Kellogg's products-tell them 2 or 3 products that you buy on a regular basis. Let them know that in a small way this will affect their bottom line. Be nice-the person on the end of the line is probably a low-paid person who is not responsible for this decision.

It will take 2 minutes to call. You will feel better after you call-making your voice known. Will it make a difference-most probably not. But let them know that this will have a cost to them. If a few thousand people call this information will go up the corporate ladder.

    Also fact

But to say again what I said in the other thread in Kellogg's defense

Meh, fuck it kellogg's makes too many good things to boycott. I don't really think kelloggs's cares, it was just a business move. They had to make some kind of response and in their mind since they make alot of cereal, they have a lot of family customers, and many families would appreciate that stance. On the other side, they know potheads are going to keep eating their food anyways because we're potheads and we get hungry. It's just all economics

You're in charge of a public company your only job is to do whatever puts more money into the company and value of the shares

I don't eat cereal because milk is disgusting...nothing to do with the cereal itself.

"Kellogg's is getting so many calls that they they ask you to press 1 to leave comments about the Phelps controversy. Button 2 is for salmonella in peanut butter!

Let's keep showing Kellogg's that they made a big mistake! Apparently, more people are calling to defend Michael Phelps than are calling about salmonella in their kids' food."
