its pants, like charles dickens writting about flowers love and romance, oliver twist having a cushy upbringing, and now he's confused as to what flowers to put in his floral display....
Yep, for any fans of Keane, you've been had, its middle of the road pap thats been hyped up for a quick buck for some record co. exec. the guys voice aint bad but come on, its hardly inspiring stuff now is it? I don't know but they look and sound like a bunch of middle class college kids messing about in their garage to me?!
arent they awesome? I love their tunes. they're a bit overplayed but i still like their songs. "bedshaped" is beautiful. i'll get their album as soon as i get a little money from heaven.
I wouldn't bother if I were you First I heard of Keane was with 'Somewhere Only We Know' which I thought, and still think, is a hell of song! I like it a lot. Then there was 'Everybody's Changing' which again had a lot of charm. Then I saw them at Glastonbury and had to walk away after a bit. The same simple piano lines repeated song to song did my head in. My brother in law gave me their album on the weekend and it's not good at all really. I think they knew they were on to a winner with the chosen singles and basically filled the album with less good tracks in keeping with the same old formula. In a word, dull.
John how dare you I however actually love Keane... Not really my normal cup of cha.. but I love them.... saw them at glastonbury and they blew my mind.. even tho I had a strop because of all the tall people in front of me I'll be seeing them in Novemeber at southampton... Oh I cannie wait!! I LOve em
Oh I dare alright. I dare super-style (Whatever that means!) I think...Even if I thought every track on there was as good as 'Somewhere Only We Know' *which I certainly don't* - After a month or so I'd still not want to hear the album for another year! It's just a bit boring I think. They don't seem to have many ideas
I was trying to think of some decent acts which might compare to Keane, obviously the likes of Coldplay, Travis and Sherly Crow cropped up! But then so did the word decent and I was back to square one... Anyway, for that Keany pop/rock style, I thought maybe these... The Verve Echo & The Bunnymen Grandaddy Beth Orton Suede Paul Weller Lowgold There's bits of these all over what Keane do. It's certainly where your money is better spent I reckon - All superior to Keane, to me I'm afraid.
