    Looking nice :)

Haha I enjoy ripping sometimes too, but only if it doesn't pull on my scalp. Otherwise, it's pretty cool to listen to

1 year (and a bit) update. OMG. All going well! I have some very fat dreads now, some very thin.

Have had some newbies born from excess loose hair which unfortunately dread up very fast, but then seem to struggle holding on due to the lack of hair holding on to the scalp and dont seem to be dreading at the root anymore (also due to lack of hair volume in dread) is this normal? Had a very thin little one on my neck line that is holding on by about 9 or ten hairs! Should I just pull it out?

    All good apart from that

I gave up maintaining months and months ago and have just started using normal shampoo designed for greasy hair, and doing the odd bicarb wash, then drying with hair dryer until bone dry. I have been using beads to sort out any major lumps and bumps I want to get rid of :)

This is the most recent picture I have, will take some pics from the back soon.

I also decided to keep my fringe, and just pin it back with a bobby pin when I want it out of my way

I get these sometimes, they look really weird! Loads of thin scraggly hairs with a lump at the end. I either congo them to something or just cut them off. They annoy me and I catch them with my fingers when I'm pulling my back or something

I have a question. The dreads on the top of my scalp are not dreading up at all at the root (there is very little friction there during sleep) and are becoming very very loose and fragile, still fat on the ends. What can i do to knot them up and get the loose hair back in, and encourage knotting in future?

You can try a wool beanie or tam. When the wool rubs it will make the loose hairs static-y and knotty and if you rub the hat around it'll rub the roots and help those along too. This is probably superior to the usual 'clockwise root rubbing' for your particular case because it's less aggressive and won't damage roots that are already fragile. You can also try spending a little time rubbing the towel around your head after you wash your hair.

How old are the problematic locks?

They are about a year and 2 month now, they have become super tight over the last few months and in doing do have become heavier and the ones on the top are suffering. There is a lot of loose hair on the top but I can croquet the loosies until the dreads start knotting again, because there is literally no not for the to be croqueted into :/ boooo. Thankyou for the advise, will deff try that. SHould I wear a tam in bed?

Might find it a little warm to wear it in bed, but whatever works best :)

Also, I bought loads of beady pretty stuff but my dreads are fatties and nothing fits them! I think they need to lose some weight

This is why you should make your own dread beads or sleeves XD I do and I can tailor them to fit any size dread even my straw sized dreads to my fatty dreads.
