There is absolutely no way they could ever get away with an ultraconservative agenda. We aren't in this shitty mess because of people who will have to deal with the fallout... and if the SC tries to outlaw abortion or something then there will be A LOT of resistance... not just feminists, not just women in the streets... I mean doctors, academics, etc. It would effectively tear the country apart. Trump is just thinking about the press and the win, but I don't think Kavanaugh or any of the other conservative judges are stupid or out of touch enough to try to force ultraconservatism or Christian fascism on the US. There would be a civil war, secessions, etc. However I think that the rich will definitely get richer and the poor will definitely get poorer-- it's what conservatives do.
Watching the news and a reporter described the protestors “descending” lol What are they, vultures? So crazy. I have the name Kavanaugh burned in my brain.
I can speak as both a sexual abuse victim and as a male who has been falsley accused of a crime by a female. I wish Dr. Ford would have chosen a better path towards getting her story out. There is too much surrounding how it got handled for me to question her intent. And now there seems to be some stories from other people that further discredit her. We can't assault a victims reputation because she can't fill in some details. Buts its that very lack of detail that should keep us from saying anyone is guilty. The left are already proposing to the world that we now have a sexual predator on the SCOTUS, without even considering that they may have had a total fabrication to get that assertion started. I was accused of attempted murder once. (No I'm not kidding). The accuser not only swore out a statement with dates, times, locations and detailed description of the events, she also had a second person that swore it to be true. It was a total fabrication that the judge saw through at the hearing. But to say I was mad about it was accurate. So I remain hopeful that this will help the nation see the difficulty sexual assault victims face. I hope that Dr. Ford isn't as politically motivated as it could appear. Because it doesn't help her credibility.
It's pretty accurate. They are pretty well organized domestic terrorist. Which I just saw even the press state, that they are paid. They mentioned 2 names that organize and fund them. And the name Soros was brought up as a backer. That explains a lot. I wonder if Trump will finally a way to site them for funding domestic terrorism. Hmmmm.
As someone outside of your nation I seriously can't see how an american citizen that really cares about having the most suitable person in such a position would still support this guy to get it. As has been stated by plenty of sensible people: not only because of the charges but also because of how unworthy he argued his defense. Should not want. Seriously.
Deidre lots of "old white dudes" are decent law-abiding hard-working tax-paying individuals. I like to count myself in that group. I was the first person in my family to get a 4 year degree and later on earn a master's. I worked my way through school - I didn't go on my parents' dime. My children are productive citizens and one of them has started a family. Not all of us are evil predators who have been corrupted by power. Sweeping generalizations are always wrong. Your dad is middle eastern - is he an Islamic terrorist? Choose your words carefully.
After the eleven white male senators grilled Kavanaugh's female accuser, and brought in a female prosecutor for optics, he was asked why there aren't any women on the Republican side of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His answer:
you forgot "she's lying for political reasons" and "she's too mentally ill to understand what happened to her"
Her because she's more credible. In "he says, she says", especially in situations where the alleged victim was a minor and where there is no corroborating evidence, the trier of fact has to rely on demeanor. In some jurisdictions in sexual asault cases in the criminal justice system, the jury can bring in a verdict on that basis alone, without corroborating evidence. https://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=129479&page=1 “He Said—She Said”: The Role of the Forensic Evaluator in Determining Credibility of Plaintiffs Who Allege Sexual Exploitation and Boundary Violations https://scholarship.law.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1951&context=lawreview The Kavanaugh case, of course, is not a criminal sexual assault trial but a job interview, in which case giving the applicant every benefit of reasonable doubt risks putting a sex offender on the court. I find his credibility dubious, because I think he lied under oath about his drinking and the meaning of the yearbook entries, and because the explosive anger he demonstrated makes me wonder what he would have been like with a few beers in him. She took a polygraph and asked for an FBI investigation. He didn't. But as I've said before, the main issue to me is not the assault case but the utter lack of judicial temperament demonstrated by his blatant, vitriolic partisanship.
