Kash Mescaline A/b Extraction Question

Hey all! I don't post often, but this is a matter I desperately need help with. Very shortly someone I know will be doing a mescaline extraction using Kash's a/b method. At the end of the extraction, one is supposed to wash the final impure mescaline powder with MEK to get rid of impurities. However, after this there is an optional final purification to get rid of further impurities using methanol, HCL, fumaric acid, xylene, and the likes to get pure mescaline HCL.

He is prepared to do both of these, however, he was wondering if because so many people on the internet have reported problems with the MEK wash that he could skip this and just do the full purification using the methanol and fumaric acid wash. He doesn't see why this wouldn't work, as the MEK wash likely doesn't get rid of all the impurities anyways...

I didn't get my actual question answered. I asked this and many people told me that washing with acetone would work. I know this will work. What I don't know is whether or not it is necessary if I am also doing the methanol/fumaric acid
